Dear All,

Just spent some time setting up a Belkin F5D6050 version 2 with the
at76c503 driver.

First thanks to all those who have put so much hard work into developing
and maitaining this driver.

On with a bit of technical background.
The F5D6050 I purchases has ver.1000 on the back however it identifies
itself with the USB vendor/product 0x50d/0x50.

This is important if you have SuSE9.0. This has a package for at7c503a
verion 0.10. You need to download 0.11 to cope with this device.

Ok back to the problem.
Once everying was working on the linux end I found the recieve data rate
was very poor. The problem occurs when connecting to my Netgear WG602v2
access point. Since I only have this one AP I'm not sure which side was
responsible for the bad performace. The latest firmware upgrade
"wg602v2_3_1rc5.img" makes no difference however.

After much work trying to get the Windows drivers sorted out I was able
to reproduce this behaviour in Windows.

Under windows I could repoduce the problem with the Belkin v2.15 driver
as shipped on the CD-rom
Downgrading to the v2.14 driver fixes the problem!!
I assume the issue is with the latest firmware. The working old firmware
is version 0.100.5.78

With this knowledge I was able to try out all the options in the linux
v0.11 driver. I was lucky and found that the compatiblity problem is
with the long/short preambles.

For Linux the workaround is to set
EITHER in "modules.conf"
	options at76c503 preamble_type=1

OR on with the command
	iwpriv wlan0 short_preamble 1

I hope this information is understandable and of some use!

Michael
