bering or any other small linux system atmel support

Hi,

has anybody made a http://leaf.sourceforge.net Bering linux floppy or
even compact flash system supporting atmel based usb-wlan cards, yet?

I am to do so, and I am stuck with getting an ide-system supported
kernel system - special problem is to get an environment to compile the
kernel _and_ the correscponding modules and turn the modules to
modules.lrp afterwards.
Currently I have compiled a kernel with ide-support for the bering
system, but the kernel does not yet boot, so I can't compile the atmel
drivers. Unfortunately I haven't found documentation how to _create_ _a_
_modules.lrp_ _and_ _depending_ _files_ on your own, yet.

Because of that, I installed user-mode-linux and uml to gain the uml
environment described at
http://leaf.sourceforge.net/devel/jnilo/uml04.html
The documentation lacks information that you have to install
user-mode-linux, but I found out by trial and error.
At the description of /usr/share/doc/user-mode-linux/README.debian is a
howto to compile a user-mode-linux kernel, but I can't cope with the
.config, nor can the kernel compile ... stuck there, too.

I'd appreciate any information how to get the atmel driver modules into
a Bering or any other Linux system consuming less then 4 MB filespace
supporting a compact flash (behaves as /dev/hda)!
