D-Link DWL-120a problem(s?).

Hello All and thanks in advance!

I picked up a couple of the DWL-120a devices and have been 
trying to get them installed and working in linux for the 
past couple days, I *may* be close but have run out of 
ideas, thus my request for help here.

Hopefully useful information:

Distro: Gentoo, current.
Kernel: 2.6.9

Hotplug is installed and working with other usb devices 
(snapscan scanner, usbfs digital camera, joysticks 
(sidewinder and Saitek, etc.) and usb palm cradle:

pci_hotplug: PCI Hot Plug PCI Core version: 0.5

atmel                  34308  0
firmware_class          7616  1 atmel

modules created and loaded

lsusb shows (just this device):

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 03eb:7603 Atmel Corp. AT76c503a 
D-Link DWL-120 802.11b Adapter

usbview shows the device as "Unknown Device".

The atmel firmware was obtained from:

http://www.thekelleys.org.uk/atmel

atmel-firmware-1.1 was installed using the install.sh script 
supplied.

dmesg shows:

usb 2-3.1: new full speed USB device using address 3

Which I think is this device.

For whatever it is worth (and I do so hate to say this :) 
these work under windoz.

As noted, I am out of ideas and massive googling was not 
helpful :-(.

Any assistance with this is greatly appreciated!
