Downloaded the 0.10 version and all seems well. I also noticed the line
about using hidden SSID's which I had turned on. Turned that off and it
helped as well. Since I did this with the new version of the driver I'll
just say both solutions worked equally well :)

Now my wlan is wide-open but thank heaven for WEP and think concrete
walls.
