hello,

we've been seeing a number of eepro100 cards "stuck" in a mode with
very poor response over the last couple of weeks. with that, i mean
     (a) ping times is unacceptably high (1/10 of a sec)
     (b) throughput is less than 100kbit/s (measured by ttcp)

  a reboot fixes the problem.

  machine details:
  - Intel STL2 motherboard (latest bios revision)
  - eth0: OEM Intel i82559 rev 8 (onboard)
  - linux kernel 2.4.19 (custom)
  - eepro100.c:v1.24 7/25/2002

most of these machines had been up (and used continuously) for 250+
days when the trouble started to occur a couple of weeks ago.
the kernel debug logs only contains

kernel: eth0: Unknown receiver error, status=0x5048
kernel: eth0: Unknown receiver error, status=0x5148

the output of "eepro100-diag -faem" is attached and shows pending
  interrupt sources.

what is this and does anyone know how to cause/fix it?
will a simple driver/kernel upgrade do, or should i look for
something else that may be wrong?

regards,
