Problem wait_for_cmd_done timeout kernel 2.4.20, 2.4.21, 2.4.22-pre1

Hi
 
After googling I found many people have the same
problem; 
so I would like to ask if the problem has been
resolved .
 
I tried all the above kernel 2.4.20; 2.4.21
2.4.22-pre1 and 
have the same message. Use dhcpcd to find out network 
config, run ncpmount to mount Novel volume, use mc to 
change to 
my drive, delete a folder and the system freeze. After
a 
while mc inform input output error. Run dmesg I saw  a
lot 
message eth0 wait_for_cmd_done timeout 
 
Then I tried run ifconfig  eth0 down  and the kernel
OOPs 
With 2.4.21 the OOP make the system died completely,
2.4.20 
after OOP the system still run as normal but no
network, of 
course.
 
Unlucky this is public computer then I dont have
chance to 
get kernel OOP message
The modules used is eepro100

The kernel message is something like..

Eth0 OEM i82557/i82558 10/10

All boxes in my computer lab at school have the same
problem (they use the same ethernet card above
