I'm getting nearly the same thing as David with my PSC1210

with localhost:631 psc1200, printer state processing, accepting jobs
print test page: "Could not connect to remote server
		http://bruce:631/printers/psc1200?op=print-test-page"

	ptal-init setup currently defined mlc:usb:pcs_1200_series
ptal-init status ptal-init has been started
	ptal-init start stopping the driver
				starting the driver
				mlc:usb:pcs_1200_series
	lpr goodmen	no response
	ptal-connect mlc:usb:pcs_1200_series print
			unable to open device "print"

ptal-cups start or ptal-cups stop causes
ptal-connect connecting to device "mlc:usb:pcs_1200_series" ... Which stays
for more than 20 minutes.
