Hi,
I am a bit confused now: http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/productsmf.php
lists "HPIJS" as backend solution for the HP Officejet K80, but not
"HPLIP". For HPIJS, it shows "no" for USB/Network, and "no" for Service
and Fax.
By mistake, I first tried to use HPLIP for this printer, which didn't
work at all. Now I use the old-style HPOJ solution with USB connection
and manual installation of the ptal driver ("ptal init setup"). This
works for printing and scanning but there are no service functions,
except the small LCD display applet.
Can someone clear that up:
http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/hplip_readme.html states that HPLIP
shall be a successor/replacement for the HPOJ package. But, if so, why
doesn't it support printing through the USB connection for the K Series?
Maybe this type of printer and the USB connection will be supported in
later versions of HPLIP?
Bye, Thomas
