Hi,

I'm looking at the problem of translating CUPS ptal: URIs into hp:
URIs, so that upgrading Fedora Core from an hpoj-based set-up to an
HPLIP-based one works.

ptal:/mlc:usb:PSC_2200_Series
   |
   V
hp:/usb/PSC_2200_Series?serial=MY2CVF42CR0G

As far as I can tell, this can't be done without the actual device
present and enabled, because ptal: URIs don't have as much information
in as hp: URIs.

Is my only hope to have the "update configuration" program run the
CUPS 'hp' backend, looking for possible matches?

Tim.
