Link adaptation in source code

Hi,

Is it possible in the driver's source code to see when the card wants to change its date rate? (e.g. when the distance between the station and access point increases the date rate may automatically change from 54Mbps to 36Mbps). So, would it be possible to see in the driver when such a decision was made and know in advance that the next frame will be transmitted with a new date rate?
