Hi!

Yes. Try to set up full speed between your wifi and router. It cannot do any 
harm.
If your card supports only 11 Mbps, it doesn't matter.
Just try to set up full speed on both sides and see what your new measures 
say. But maybe you made this test already didn't you?
I don't see anything more to add. If you can afford a router with 54 Mbps 
compatibility or more, you can have a try. But first try this. But don't use 
low encryption for security reasons of course even though it slows down your 
connection.
