fixed value for 'quality' (iwlist scan)

I own an 'Toshiba Tecra S1'. Wlan is working, the driver ipw2100 has
been auto-detected.
The problem is that 'signal strength' is not constantly reported. It is
a constant value. nm-applet is affected, and 'iwlist scan', too.
Example:
$ iwlist scan | grep Quality
Quality:86 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
^^
^^ => This is the value that stays constant, even if the distance
between notebook and AP increases.
I noticed, that this value is only 'refreshed' if i do a
$ modprobe -r ipw2100
$ modprobe ipw2100
After every single reload of the driver, the value stays again constant.
Well, not a perfect solution ;-)
I also noticed, that kismet is able to provide and update the signal
strenght.
Can this be fixed in ipw2100?
If you need more info, don't hesitate to aks. I am subscribed to the
list for the next few weeks.
Kind regards
Henning
