Question/Problem according rtl8139.c

Hy all,

I got a real great Problem with my new Laptop:
I got a rtl8139 networkcard and a 2.4.18 kernel installed.
It is possible to configure the interface (with ifconfig) but i just can=20
ping to 127.0.0.1 What does this mean ? How can I ping to my entire netwo=
rk=20
or to the internet ???
I included the module in the kernel.. Thats not the problem.

Can anyone help me ?

The message in /var/log/messages:
