Tulip driver with 3CSOHO100B-TX cards works, but reports errors

This is a bit of a weird problem.

I have a Redhat 9 system (kernel version 2.4.20-8). I updated the tulip.o
file
to version v0.95f so it will recognise my 3Com 3CSOHO100B-TX network card.

It seems to work OK, I can connect to the Linux machine from other PCs,
transfer
files, mount NFS volumes etc.

However, if I do an ifconfig on the Linux machine, I get this:

Apparently, all the transmitted packets have failed, even though clearly at
least some
are getting through as the network is working.

Is this a real problem, or is it just the output from ifconfig which is
faulty?
