Hello, could somebody help me with an install of my ethernet-card. I have some problems installing my Sitecom ethernet-card under Linux. It works fine under Windows (it is sending this mail okay ;-} ), so it can't be the card itself. card: Sitecom PCI Fast 10/100 Ethernetcard Adapter LN-020 A tulip-driver should be used for this, it was already installed on the computer in: /lib/modules/2.4.4-4GB/kernel/drivers/tulip.o I did /sbin/depmod -a and altered the conf.modules (alias eth0 tulip ; options tulip etc.) as mentioned in the installation guide. A grep from boot.msg shows this: Configured serial ports doneRunning /etc/init.d/boot.local doneCreating /var/log/boot.msg doneEnabling syn flood protectiondone Disabling IP forwardingdone INIT: Entering runlevel: 5 Boot logging started at Sun Oct 19 17:18:03 2003 Master Resource Control: previous runlevel: N, switching to runlevel: 5 Starting personal-firewall (initial) [active]done Initializing random number generatordone insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.4-4GB/kernel/drivers/net/tulip/tulip.o: invalid parameter parm_debug insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.4-4GB/kernel/drivers/net/tulip/tulip.o: insmod eth0 failed DHCLIENT: The device eth0 is not available at the moment. DHCLIENT: Please check if the driver is set up correctly. Starting RPC portmap daemondone Starting SSH daemondone Okay, maybe this file is too old (?) .I tried to make the tulip.c again but this failed because it included "/linux" h-files which is not allowed. I don't know how to overcome this problem thus left it at this. I did make tulip-diag and run the program and the following output was generated. I don't know how to interpret this but maybe somebody can: root@linux:/home/edward/tulip/diag > tulip-diag -f tulip-diag.c:v2.06 1/8/2001 Donald Becker ([email protected]) http://www.scyld.com/diag/index.html Index #1: Found a ADMtek AL985 Centaur-P adapter at 0x6800.
