To try the drivers from scyld.com, do

  mkdir /tmp/netdrivers/
  cd /tmp/netdrivers/
  ncftpget ftp://ftp.scyld.com/pub/network/netdrivers.tgz
  tar xfvz netdrivers.tgz
  make
  make install
