Differences between Scyld driver and driver included in Kernel 2.4.20 series

I saw a post sometime in december about this, but when I checked the 
archives, the december and november messages don't seem to be in them yet.

Basically I'm wondering from an academic point of view:  I'm not looking 
for which 'driver is faster'; just wondering what is different (memory 
allocation, different features added/removed, bugfixes, etc).
