I believe that somehow the card is forced into > full-duplex mode, while the modem only supports half-duplex. A module > option or maybe EEPROM default media might cause this... The modem indeed only supports half-duplex, and the network card was set to autonegotiate. There were no module options to force it into full-duplex. Using the dos-utility i noticed that the card was set to full-duplex automatically (as read only variable?), and the media setting was on "autodetect". After setting it to "10Mbit" it solved the problem completely! Still weird though why the lockup seemed to happen mostly when trying to access my hotmail account.. and why it never happened under windows. thanks!
