Auto-negotiation on 3C90x Boomerang cards

Hi, I'm confused about auto-negotiation on 3C90x Boomerang cards. The 3c59x driver doesn't consider them to have it, and page 18 of the '3C90x and 3C90xB NICs Tecnical Reference' appears to back this up: "3C90xB NICs have these additional features:... Support for IEEE 802.3u auto-negotiation..." However, page 58 states: "On 3C90x NICs, the autonegotiation function is implemented within the National Semiconductor DP83840 PHY chip." Does the Boomerang have some kind of auto-negotiation that isn't 802.3u compliant? If it does, could the 3c59x driver make use of this feature?
