The enbd code is not invasive.  Such real nontrivial patches as there
are in the distributed archive are only to the kernel Makefiles and
Kconfig files.

But since I managed to figure out (with help) how to compile 2.6 enbd
outside the kernel tree, you may as well try it.

Well "figured out" is too strong.  I made it work, somehow, and the
mutant make procedure still might break if someone breathes too hard on
the kernel makefiles, so I'd like you to try it and tell me if it still
works.

And then let me know if there is an "official" way of compiling outside
the kernel tree!
