I've also been collecting the patches in a fr1-2.17 archive. I put in
both the current 2.6.8.1 patch that you have been working on, and a
back-port to 2.6.3 (where I had mostly been following the work anyway).

I have as yet only compiled the 2.6.3 port, not tested it, because I am
currently running in 2.6.8.1 in order to do testing (2.6.8.1 is unstable
on my portable, so I dn't know how long that will last ...).

A port of changes to 2.4 kernels is still waiting - but I guess it can
continue to wait, as the real problem was that the port TO 2.6 had been
insufficiently tested or adapted, not the other way round.
