The disk you're trying to use with EVMS is already mounted. Therefore the device mapper doesn't allow EVMS to "takeover" the disk. To resolve the problem you can either apply the bd-claim patch or turn your root filesystem and swap space to EVMS or compatibility volumes and mount those instead.
