As Steve already pointed out, that's not possible under normal
conditions.

But the one thing you could do to get around that, is to temporarily
move the FSIM for the underling filesystem (e.g.
/lib/evms/2.5.5/ext2-1.1.13.so) somewhere else.  That way EVMS won't
recognize that there is a filesystem on the volume and ask if I should
write zeros.
