That's a good point.  If EVMS does not find an FSIM for the volume it will
ask you if you want to write zeroes to the first 1MB of the disk when you
delete the volume.  If you answer "No" it will preserve your data.

BTW, make sure you move the FSIM out of the /lib/evms/ directory and don't
just rename it.  EVMS tries to load all the files that it finds in the
/lib/evms directory.  Simply renaming the file will not prevent EVMS from
loading it.

The other obvious thing you could do is backup the data on the volume,
delete the volume, recreate the volume, then restore the data.  It could
take a while and require additional storage, but you want a backup of your
precious data anyway. :)
