Nuts.  I was afraid of that.  Too bad; I thought IBM could be counted on
for staying power.

I had the impression that if one didn't use compatibility volumes the
results weren't usable without evms.  Does anybody know if that's the
case, or have other ideas how to proceed?

A quick look shows LVM supports a snapshot feature, so it looks as if it
would be a pretty good replacement for my needs.
