Of course the project is hosted on SourceForge so as long as the three Project Admins remain contactable, they can allow other developers to join the project and continue the maintenance. Once upon a time there was a thing in SF where a project could ask for help on a sort of bulletin board (help offered/help wanted). I just had a quick look but can't find that any more. There was also a bounty system I think, where a user could post a project's bug or feature request to a list and if a developer did it, they got the money. Not sure if that still exists either ...
