Is it possible to set up the framebuffer to work on screens that don't match the usual 640x400, 640x480, 800x600, etc. VESA modes?
I would like to use the framebuffer on a Sony Vaio PCG-C1XS laptop using 1024x480. The laptop uses the NeoMagic 256AV with the NM2200 chipset. Is there a way that I can calculate a VESA mode to feed lilo at boot time?
I have been reading through the Framebuffer HOWTO, the Linux BootPrompt HOWTO, linux/Documentation/fb/framebuffer.txt and linux/Documentation/fb/vesafb.txt, but so far, I haven't been able to put it all together to get what I want.
I can use X on this laptop using this modeline:
ModeLine "1024x480" 65 1024 1032 1176 1344 480 491 493 525 -hsync -vsync
Any help would be appreciated, particularly pointers to documentation I should read or parts of documentation it appears I have not understood.
