I'm having the same problem on my Debian system.  If you figure it out,
please let me know.  I've asked on the Samba Users mailing list, but they
couldn't help me much because I couldn't come up with a reproducible test
case.

For me, it only seems to happen when the client is running Windows NT 4.0.

I'm to the point where I'm considering downgrading to Samba 2.x to see if
that gets rid of it.
