Yup, that's exactly what I'm seeing.  Judging from the users who last edited
the files before the problem turned up, it only seems to occur at our site
when the client is an NT 4.0 workstation.

It first turned up here when I went from a RedHat 7.0 system to Debian.

Doubtful, since I'm seeing it with 3.0.7.

I wish we could nail this down.  It's becoming a huge headache for me.
Every couple of days I have to manually fix the permissions on dozens of
files.
