About: Active Calendar is a PHP class that generates calendars (month or
year view) as HTML tables (XHTML-Valid). It can produce static calendars
without any links or calendars with a week number column, navigation
controls, a date picker control, event days and content with event URLs,
and linkable days (optionally URL or Javascript). The layout can be
configured using CSS, and JavaScript is not required. The supported dates
(on systems using a 32-bit signed integer Unix time_t) are: 1902-2037
(Unix) and 1971-2037 (Windows), when using the default PHP native date
functions, and 100-3000 and later, when using the ADOdb Date Library.

Changes: The public method showYear() has been modified to accept a second
optional parameter that specifies the starting month in the year calendar.
The example scripts in the download package have been updated.

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Sound Synthesis

About: Csound is a powerful and yet easy to use musical synthesis package.
Csound was constructed in the tradition of so-called music-N languages,
among which the best-known is Music V. It consists of an orchestra- and
score-driven executable, written in C for portability. Since Csound is a
computational language, it is highly flexible and efficient; complexity is
gained only at the expense of computation power. Basically, Csound reads
some files and creates the result as a sound file on disk or, on faster
machines, in real time through a DAC.

Changes: This release adds an updated manual, a new plugin system, use of
external libraries where possible (libsndfile for audio file I/O, one of
ALSA, PortAudio, CoreAudio, MME, or ASIO for realtime audio), support for
PortMIDI, Open Sound Control facilities via liblo, and Python/Java
bindings for the API. A number of opcodes from csoundAV and csoundVST are
now part of the main system.

metadata including Makernote tags in various formats, adjusts Exif
timestamps, renames images according to the Exif timestamp, extracts and
inserts Exif and Iptc metadata and JPEG comments, or deletes the thumbnail
or a specific type of metadata from an image.

[024] - HTTP extension for PHP 0.22.0
  by Michael Wallner (http://freshmeat.net/users/_mike_/)
  Fri, Feb 3rd 2006 03:57

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: The HTTP extension for PHP aims to provide a convenient and
powerful set of functionality for one of PHP's major applications. It
eases handling of HTTP URLs, dates, redirects, headers, and messages,
provides means for negotiation of clients' preferred language and charset,
as well as a convenient way to send any arbitrary data with caching and
resuming capabilities. It provides powerful request functionality if built
with CURL support. Parallel requests are available for PHP 5 and greater.

Changes: The HTTP "protocol" version request option was added. The
optional class_name parameter was added to HttpMessage::fromString(),
HttpMessage::toMessageTypeObject(), ::detach(), and ::prepend(). An
iterator interface was added to HttpMessage,
http_get_request_body_stream(), and the HttpQueryString class. The
per-request calls to curl_easy_setopt() were decreased. ssl+ZTS issues,
http_get_request_body(), and a bug concerning undefined Z_FIXED were all
fixed. http_redirect() was changed to match PHP's behavior by default. The
configure script enables curl and zlib functionality by default.

  Fri, Feb 3rd 2006 08:45

Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Version Control

About: Quilt is a set of scripts to manage a series of patches by keeping
track of the changes each patch makes. Patches can be applied, un-applied,
refreshed, etc. The key philosophical concept is that your primary output
is patches, not ".c" files or ".h" files, so patches are the first-class
object here. It was originally based on Andrew Morton's patch scripts
published on the Linux kernel mailing list a while ago, but has been
heavily modified since then.

Changes: Dozens of bugs have been fixed; in particular, deleting the top
patch works again. Huge efforts have been put into improving compatibility
with many platforms. The mail command has been completely reworked. New
features have been added: delete -r physically removes the deleted patch,
delete --backup makes a backup copy of the deleted patch, annotate -P
annotates a previous version of the file, import can preserve or merge
comments when updating a patch, and push detects reversed patches. Support
for diffstat options has been added.

[054] - Restlet 1.0 beta 2
  by Jerome (http://freshmeat.net/users/jlouvel/)
  Fri, Feb 3rd 2006 06:21

Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: Restlet is a framework that brings the simplicity and efficiency of
the REST architectural style to Java developers. It is composed of two
parts, the Restlet API (alternative to Servlet API) and a reference
implementation (Noelios Restlet Engine). It supports all REST concepts
(resource, representation, data, connector, components, etc.) and is
suitable for both client and server REST applications. The server
connectors provided are HTTP(S), AJP (via Mortbay's Jetty or an adapter
Servlet) and the client connectors are HTTP(S), JDBC, and SMTP (via
JavaMail).

Changes: This release adds more unit tests for media types and forms,
refactors the form handling logic, and updates Jetty 6 connector to
version 6.0 beta 8. It fixes a bug which caused the query part of a URI to
be directly included in the list of resource paths, issues with the HTTP
client connector preventing posting of forms, and several header parsing
issues. DirectoryRestlet now allows only a GET method to return a file
representation.

[055] - Resubmit 0.4
  by Felix Suwald (http://freshmeat.net/users/ripit/)
  Fri, Feb 3rd 2006 06:19

About: Resubmit is a script used to correct faulty entries in FreeDB. It
is intended for use with Konqueror (KDE) while browsing freedb.org, but it
also works on the command line. With one click, a new message will be
prepared, ready for resubmission. All words will have first character
uppercase, and some standardization is enforced according to the naming
rules of freedb.org. Corrections can be made before sending the improved
message to freedb.org.

Changes: This release improves the correction algorithm (redundant artist
information in tracknames will be removed), lines that are too long are
now split, and to prevent rejections, the CDDBID is recalculated if
several IDs are given in the entry.

[063] - Vortex Library 0.8.9
  by Advanced Software Production Line (http://freshmeat.net/users/aspl/)
  Fri, Feb 3rd 2006 10:35

Communications
Internet
Software Development :: Libraries

About: Vortex Library is a BEEP Core protocol implementation, following
the standard definitions in RFC 3080 and RFC 3081. It has a clean and
easy-to-use API that allows you to write new protocols or user
applications. Vortex Library has been developed within the Af-Arch
project, and it is being used at the data transport layer. However, Vortex
Library can be used independently of Af-Arch.

Changes: This release adds properly implemented SEQ frame support that
enables it to interoperate with beepcore-java. It adds better support for
MIME handling. Messages generated are automatically MIME-adjusted
according to the profile configuration associated to the given channel.
Frames read inside the Vortex Library automatically separate the payload
content from the MIMe headers. There are many bugfixes, memory handling
updates, and project documentation updates.

About: The WiKID Strong Authentication System is a highly scalable, secure
two-factor authentication system consisting of a server, a token client,
and network clients that connect a service such as a VPN or Web page to
the WiKID server to validate one-time passcodes. The user enters their PIN
into the token client, where it is encrypted and sent to the server. If the
PIN is correct, the encryption valid, and account active, the one-time
passcode is generated, encrypted, and returned to the user. It is simple
to implement and maintain, allows users to be validated automatically,
requires no hardware tokens, has a simple API for application support via
a COM object and Java component, supports multiple domains, and supports
replication for fault tolerance and scalability.

Changes: Null pointers have been fixed.

based on configurable HTML templates. It supports serial and USB data
loggers, as well as connectivity with a terminal server or serial server
via TCP sockets.

Changes: This release fixes several hour/day/week "change" values for
temp, dewpoint, and barometer introduced with the LOOP data change to
float. It changes rain dials to be zero-based if there is no ET
measurement. It adds mm support to the rain dials, buckets, and historical
charts. It fixes a rain accumulator bug for WXT-510 archive records.
