Communications :: Ham Radio
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Analysis

About: acarsd is an ACARS decoder for Linux and Windows. ACARS stands for
Communications Addressing and Reporting System. acarsd tries to decode
ACARS transmissions from aircraft. Some features include the type of
aircraft, flight, and operator.

Changes: Fast acarsd.db indexing with low memory usage was implemented for
web and acarsd server. Flight resolution from Flytecomm.com was added.
Resolution from Air Berlin was moved into acarsd. A high speed translation
table was added. A new XML creator and parser is included. An automatic
fleet list upload was added. Older records are automatically deleted. The
Nick Birell Aircraft list and translation.csv are automatically downloaded
and installed once a week. Up to 4 soundcards and 8 airband scanners are
supported. The WACARS style message extension file "MESSAGE.WDF" is
supported.

[002] - Access_user Class  1.88
  by olaf (http://freshmeat.net/users/olaf2/)
  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 04:56

Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: Access_user Class is an easy to use system for protecting pages and
registering users. The main features are user login, user registration,
page protection, forgotten password recovery, and email-based account
activation. The class is powered by MySQL and PHP sessions. Inside the
package are examples for all primary methods.

Changes: Two more user fields were added to the user_profile extension. To
validate a date to insert/read from the database, the ins_string() method
from the class source was changed, and the profile extension method
create_form_field(). The modified ins_string() makes it possible to use an
extended string like "some value##date", and the string "date" will be
recognized by this method as the type. Don't forget to validate the input
first.

[003] - AccuRev 4.0
  by AccuRev Inc. (http://freshmeat.net/users/damonpoole/)
  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 11:24

Software Development
Software Development :: Bug Tracking
Software Development :: Quality Assurance

About: AccuRev is a fast, powerful, and easy-to-use Software Configuration
Management (SCM) tool with integrated issue tracking based on "Streams"
that more efficiently manages complex parallel and global development.
Streams are a combination and superset of branches and labels that are
first class objects instead of being file-by-file attributes. AccuRev
records all merges and patches, so you never have to re-merge the same
code. It supports file and directory renaming and merging, follows a
client/server model, and is transaction-based. It includes an integrated
graphical 3-way diff and merge tool. AccuRev provides an Open API (and
SDK) to integrate with any third-party development tool (IBM/Rational
ClearQuest, Serena TeamTrack, and more out of the box). It also integrates
with Eclipse, the MS SCC API (MS Visual Studio), Sun Java Studio, any
diff/merge tool with a command line interface, and more.

Changes: New open API and SDK provides greater flexibility in terms of
leveraging existing tools and IDEs. AccuRev's optional replication server
can now selectively synchronize only those depots required at multiple
sites. AccuWork’s issue tracking capabilities are more fully integrated
within the Eclipse and Visual Studio IDEs. Automatic change package
merging across sibling streams is more efficient. Support for projects of
unlimited size and complexity is more efficient through stream zooming.
The addition of new icons provides visual representation of project
status, stream-type, and progress.

  by unDEFER (http://freshmeat.net/users/undefer/)
  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 21:48

System :: Filesystems
System :: Recovery Tools

About: anyfs-tools allows you to recover and convert filesystems while
using minimal extra disk space. Unlike other recovery tools, anyfs-tools
doesn't copy all the files found on other disks (or partitions), but only
saves information about the location of the file blocks to an external
inode table. After recovery, a user may mount the damaged filesystem with
anyfs and the external inode table and then interact with all recovered
files with any program.

Changes: A divide by zero bug in ELF32_Surrect was fixed. A
MAX_SIZE_IN_ZIP (max size of compressed file in zip) option was added to
config.h. Improvements were made to progress in anysurrect and a 64-bit
size bugfix was made.

  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 04:41

Internet
Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: BalanceNG is a modern software IP load balancing solution. It is
small, fast, and easy to use and setup. It offers session persistence,
different distribution methods (Round Robin, Random, Hash, and Least
Resource) and a customizable UDP health check agent in source code. It
supports VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) to set up high
availability configurations on multiple nodes. It integrates pcap packet
dumping for debugging purposes and allows the implementation of a
"transparent forensic logging bridge". It supports "all service load
balancing" based on client IP address which allows almost any protocol to
be supported. It supports single legged operations, either on IP-Level or
as DSR (Direct Server Return / "nPath") configuration.

Changes: The online help function has been extended with subtopics (vrrp,
network, gateway, server, and target). A new distribution method "session"
has been added, choosing the target which holds the least number of current
sessions.

[014] - C++ Regex Engine 1.05.01
  by unr_stuart (http://freshmeat.net/users/unr_stuart/)
  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 11:10

Text Processing

About: C++ Regex Engine provides a robust regular expression library for
use in C++. The syntax of the regular expression language is very close to
the Perl 5 standard. The classes given somewhat mirror those found in
Java's regular expression library, but have several improvements. The
intended audience of this package is anyone who does a lot of data parsing
(e.g. sysadmins), people tired of trying to decipher Perl scripts, and
regular expression beginners who know C++. Some knowledge of the STL's
vector and string will come in handy, but isn't necessary.

Changes: A bug in Unicode classes that only checked for case insensitivity
with Latin characters has been fixed. Split now accepts match flags and
match limit. The character class behavior has been changed so that [-a-z]
is valid. Efforts are being made to standardize syntax to that of the
O'Reilly book "Mastering Regular Expressions".

[016] - Charon 0.3
  by Mikolaj J. Habryn (http://freshmeat.net/users/dichro/)
  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 17:03

Communications
Internet
Security

About: Charon aims to make it easy to start reselling Internet access via
WiFi access point. It installs onto a Linksys WiFi access point (or
similar Linux device) and manages automatic price and access negotiation
with local wireless customers, charging them via the mikolaj.cx
settlement/micropayment system. It will ultimately provide secure and
fraud-resistant access by utilizing cash-based settlement, reputation
tracking, and PKI-based non-repudiable contracts, to protect both the
end-user and the access provider.

Changes: On the server side, this release is ipkg-installable with all
dependencies on any mipsel OpenWRT device. Documentation and examples are
provided for configuration, iptables integration, and more. Basic walled
garden is supplied for user education. On the client side, there is a new,
small, single-file Java client (kickstart) that downloads all missing JAR
dependencies from the local Java install, creates a mikolaj.cx identity,
and manages the initial funds transfer through mikolaj.cc, and completes
the Charon negotiation for internet access.

[017] - CoaSim 1.0 (Python)
  by Thomas Mailund (http://freshmeat.net/users/mailund_birc/)
  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 14:09

Scientific/Engineering :: Bioinformatics

About: CoaSim is a tool for simulating the coalescent process with
recombination and gene conversion under the assumption of exponential
population growth. It efficiently constructs the ancestral recombination
graph for a given number of individuals and uses this to simulate samples
of SNP and micro satellite haplotypes/genotypes. The generated sample can
afterwards be separated in cases and controls, depending on the states of
selected individual markers. The tool can accordingly also be used to
construct cases and control data sets for association studies.

Changes: This release is the end of the beta test of the Python interface,
and contains a few minor bugfixes and code cleanups.

Security :: Cryptography

About: cpm (Console Password Manager) is a small console tool to manage
passwords and other sensitive data and store them in a public-key
encrypted file. It also allows you to configure the whole hierarchy
yourself, so it's easily adoptable for many requirements. The encryption
is handled through GnuPG, and the data inside is stored as XML.

Changes: The main feature of this release is support for a new GpgME 1.1
feature which enables cpm to autodetect the recipients of its database
file. Until now, a wrapper script was necessary for this function.
Furthermore, a minor bug with the --readonly option was fixed.

[020] - Credence 1.4
  by Kevin Walsh (http://freshmeat.net/users/kwalsh/)
  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 22:24

Communications :: File Sharing

About: Credence is a tool for combating spam and pollution in filesharing
networks. It lets you vote on files in the network, analyzes the votes of
your peers so that you can avoid polluted files, and automatically
identifies the voters in the network that are most credible and useful.
It is built as an extension to LimeWire, running on the Gnutella
filesharing network.

Changes: This release added a more sophisticated voting backend and a new
GUI to match. More complex voting lets you vote down just the file name or

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players :: MP3

About: DerMixD is an audio mixing and network-listening daemon that is
similar to mixplayd but quite different in its implementation. It supports
the playing of music files on a run-time configurable number of input
channels, mixing them together and producing output on a run-time

[028] - Extended Python Debugger 1.13
  by R. Bernstein (http://freshmeat.net/users/rocky/)
  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 14:07

Software Development :: Debuggers

About: Extended Python Debugger is a more complete debugger for Python
than the stock pdb.py debugger. It supports a "restart" command,
non-interactive POSIX-like line tracing, command options, disassembly of
instructions, and stack traces that give better information for exec
statements. Stepping/nexting skips over method/function "defs". It tries
to follow gdb's command set unless there is good reason not to.

Changes: Post-mortem debugging and debugging from calling inside a program
have been improved and documented. Various bugs have been fixed and several
documentation corrections/additions have been made. A Unix manual page has
been added. This is timed with the release of ddd 3.3.12-test4, which

[032] - FileTrack 0.1-beta2
  by Tassos Koutsovassilis (http://freshmeat.net/users/tkouts/)
  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 06:57

Information Management :: Document Repositories
Information Management :: Issue Tracking

About: FileTrack is a Web-enabled communication log, keeping track of all
your inbound and outbound documents. It supports multiple logs,
auto-archiving of older entries, and generates simple reports based on
multiple criteria. One or more log entries, contacts, or documents can be
grouped together into an issue for easier monitoring.

Changes: The release requires Porcupine 0.0.6 or later. It includes a
minor optimization and a bugfix. The contacts' search query, when clicking
on the initial letter, is changed using recursive traversal of the
"/Contacts" folder. The script that assigned the security roles on a log
entry based on the sender, the recipient, and the CC list was faulty. If a
FileTrack author was included in this list, its role on the log entry was
changed to "Reader". As a result, despite being a member of the "FileTrack
Authors" group, the user could not edit the entry.

  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 16:53

Communications :: Chat
Games/Entertainment

About: FlashUnity is a channel-based approach to an XML flash
communications server and chat room. By using the concept of channels and
filters, each of which handles a different task, the FlashUnity server
becomes extremely flexible and easy to extend. Also, by using channels it
is possible to run multiple modular functions within the same server.
Filters allow you to prefilter input for all channels or provide other
functionality to all channels. This is a total rewrite of CyberSS, and the
APIs and XML have multiple major changes. Each module, filter, and the chat
client are in their own seperate PEAR package.

Changes: Room changes now work properly, and there are Uselist updates.

up the network interfaces, configuring VLANs, setting IP addresses,
setting routes, and configuring the netfilter/iptables rules. This also
means that there is just one central place where IP addresses and netmasks
are configured. A central goal of netfico is to make handling of firewalls
respective gateways with dual stacked (i.e. IPv4 and/or IPv6) hosts and a

  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 11:07

Security
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: Nuface is a Web-based administration tool that generates Edenwall,
NuFW, or simple Netfilter firewall rules. It features a high level
abstraction on the security policy set by the administrator, and works
internally on an XML data scheme. Its philosophy is to let you agglomerate
subjects, resources, or protocols into meta-objects, and use those meta
objects to generate ACLs, which are then interpreted as netfilter rules by
Nupyf, the internal XML parser. This tool may easily be extended to support
firewall implementations other than Netfilter.

Changes: Fixes a minor bug that was preventing proper deletion of NAT
rules. Some code cleanup. Better Debian packaging.

Security
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: NuFW is an authentication firewall suite: the gateway authorizes a
packet depending on which remote user has sent it. It can also set quality
of service on a per-user basis and log user activities into a SQL database.
Furthermore, it can use an external authentication source such as an LDAP
directory and be the key of a Single Sign On solution.

  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 07:45

System :: Hardware
System :: Networking
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: OpenNMS is the first enterprise-grade network management platform
developed using the open source model. The three main functional areas of
OpenNMS are service polling, which monitors services on the network and
reports on their "service level"; data collection from the remote systems
via SNMP in order to measure the performance of the network; and a system
for event management and notifications.

Changes: This release contains a number of new features and bugfixes. This
release replaces 1.2.6. The biggest new feature is the ability to better
manage the SNMP service by separating it into SNMPv1 and SNMPv2 services.
In addition to the SNMP changes, a bug with SNMP data collection was
fixed. If you are using the JDBC monitor to test databases, there is a new
JDBCStoredProcedure monitor. There is a new look to the Availability
Reports and there are some cosmetic and webUI speed improvements as well.

About: Perilar is a fast, simple computer role-playing game (CRPG) with an
epic quest. In it, you cross a vast monster-infested wilderness to the
dungeons to recover ancient weapons and artifacts, and then proceed to the

require faster thinking, nightmarishly fast button-mashing, or
turn-by-turn tactical consideration. A realistically-sized pack forces you
to plan your expeditions carefully, but without tedious weight management.

Changes: A world map is available for purchase. Help and historical
background were written. Trees may be chopped down to clear paths.
Onscreen statistics were added. The terrain now flows smoothly into
neighboring sectors. A high score listing was added. A native Mac OS X
installation and application bundle are available, but the program still
runs as a standalone jar on other platforms. The custom file selector now
actually works. Loading and saving are done by character name.

Information Management
Office/Business
Office/Business :: Scheduling

About: QTodo is a todo-list manager that was designed to help the user to
actually get things done. You can add todo items to different lists, set
priorities, the status of an item, deadlines, and more. Items can be
sorted, filtered, copied, cut, and pasted. The lists can be printed to
paper. It also features deadline management with alerts that you can
fine-tune or just disable with a tray icon.

Changes: Export to HTML and plain text, printing of deadlines, a new
selection concept, a new time picker, shortcuts, and keyboard handling
were added. You can now be warned by running a command or by a changed

[081] - Raul's classes for PHP  0.2
  by Raul (http://freshmeat.net/users/ionescu_raul/)
  Mon, Feb 27th 2006 04:59

Database

About: Raul's classes for PHP is an OOP database abstraction layer for PHP
5.1 or greater. It provides abstract classes to access database servers and
traverse result sets. There are several implementation classes to access
different types of databases: SQLite, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL. The
classes provide functions to establish connections, execute queries,
traverse result sets with pagination support, and retrieve the list of
databases, tables and fields. Any possible error is signaled by throwing
exceptions with specific message and error code.

Changes: The MSSQL internal paging was enhanced by using stored procedures
instead of views, which eliminates any restrictions imposed before.

techs on the road. It features a point and click environment and will also
work for plumbers and electricians.

Changes: This release fixed a bug that allowed you to add a callslip and
inspection without a callslip number. The system now ensures that the
brand is specified for equipment. The ability to email job flow worksheets
was added. A problem with adding tech info where the department was not
following through was fixed along with a problem with flat rate additions.
Equipment, callslips, and inspections are now updated from the server to

About: Sunifdef is a command line tool for simplifying the preprocessor
conditionals in C/C++ source code (#if and related directives) based on
the the user's chosen interpretation of the preprocessor symbols. It is a
more powerful successor to the FreeBSD 'unifdef' tool. Sunifdef is most
useful to developers of constantly evolving products with large code
bases, where preprocessor conditionals are used to configure the feature
sets, APIs or implementations of different releases. In these
environments, the code base steadily accumulates #ifdef-pollution as
transient configuration options become obselete. Sunifdef can largely
automate the recurrent task of purging redundant #if-logic from the code.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: Tournament Pool and Bracket Tracker contains everything you need to
run a tournament pool. It supports small groups or organizations who wish
to provide an NCAA basketball tournament pool without a lot of
administrative work in calculating up-to-date results and possibilities.
Though it was built with the NCAA tournament in mind, it should be able to
handle most other sport tournament pools. Once a tournament is underway,
users can keep track of their progress as the administrator for a
tournament updates the results of games. Pool adminstrators can choose
from many different scoring systems.

Changes: Administrators can now create a new tournament, create teams, and
assign the seeds, all from the user interface. Leagues have been added so
that teams are properly grouped and you don't make the mistake of placing
a women's team in a men's tournament or vice versa. A site admin who has
the authority to create new tournaments, set them up with teams, and to
assign other site admins was added. The user interface was updated so that
the focus is on particular tournaments.
