Desktop Environment :: Window Managers :: CTWM
Desktop Environment :: Window Managers :: CTWM :: Themes

About: CTS is a set of scripts and configuration files (using m4) that add
basic themes capability to the ctwm window manager. It allows you to change
the ctwm theme and your desktop wallpaper from an automatically generated
menu.

Changes: This version provides many minor enhancements, file name changes,
and better themes, but above all, themes are now split into two kinds:
"look themes" that change the visual aspects of the window manager, and
"feel themes" that change the key bindings, the way windows are raised,
etc. That way, you can change the colors of the windows while keeping your
preferred focus and window raise methods.

Database
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search

About: DBSight is a J2EE search platform for rapidly developing search
engines on any relational database, for both beginners and experts. It's
scalable, easy to create, and fast to search. It runs on any
JDBC-supported relational database. It can work on any new systems or old
legacy systems that need full-text search, without changing existing
systems. It's based on the high-performance Lucene API. All parameters are
configurable through Web UI for configuring data retrieval, content
indexing, and displaying templates.

Changes: This release can vertically concatenate all String columns. It
has been upgraded to lucene 2.0RC1. Any existing deprecated APIs have been
cleaned up. Multi-search regression has been fixed. Unix systems do not
need double quotes for file names.

[005] - Gallery 2.1.1 (2.0)
  by Bharat Mediratta (http://freshmeat.net/users/bharat/)
  Sun, Apr 16th 2006 07:52

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers

About: Gallery is a slick Web-based photo album written using PHP. It is
easy to install, includes a config wizard, and provides users with the
ability to create and maintain their own albums in the album collection
via an intuitive Web interface. Photo management includes automatic
thumbnail creation, image resizing, rotation, ordering, captioning and
more. Albums can have read, write, and caption permissions per individual
authenticated user for an additional level of privacy.

Changes: This bugfix release resolves problems with Postgres7, Oracle, and
DB2. It includes minor bugfixes for the imageblock module, and fixes some
very rare permission issues in the toolkit (archiveupload, dcraw, ffmpeg,
imagemagick, netpbm, and zipcart) modules. New in this release is the
Gallery2 Preinstaller. This tool is a tiny download that will download and
unpack Gallery2 on your server for you, saving you a lot of download and
upload time. This is very useful if you're using FTP.

  Sun, Apr 16th 2006 15:48

Artistic Software
Desktop Environment :: Gnome
Multimedia :: Graphics

About: Gnofract 4D is a Gnome-based program to draw fractals. What sets it
apart from other fractal programs (and makes it "4D") is the way that it
treats the Mandelbrot and Julia sets as different views of the same
four-dimensional fractal object. It contains a Fractint-compatible formula
compiler, allowing it to draw an unlimited number of fractal types, using
numerous coloring options.

Changes: This release adds a 'render to disk' option to create images
larger than will fit in memory. It also provides other minor usability
improvements and bugfixes.

  by jayed (http://freshmeat.net/users/jayed/)
  Sun, Apr 16th 2006 07:50

Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics
Text Processing :: Markup :: TeX/LaTeX

About: htmlatex does on-the-fly rendering of HTML files containing inline
LaTeX. LaTeX source code is typed directly into an HTML file. The file is
left unchanged, and the output is filtered, replacing raw source with
images. Rendered images are stored on the filesystem, reducing the
overhead as much as possible. Images are only recompiled if the LaTeX
source is changed, in which case the images are automatically updated.

Changes: Internet Explorer users can now see the rendered equations.
Memcached is no longer used. Instead, images are served from the
filesystem.

[009] - httpFileManager 0.0.3
  by Jorge Gonzalez (http://freshmeat.net/users/athenasoft/)
  Sun, Apr 16th 2006 07:48

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: httpFileManager is a file management script that allows the remote
administration of files over HTTP. It only needs a PHP interpreter on the
server side and a JavaScript capable browser with cookies enabled on the
client side. No database engine or other software is required.
httpFileManager allows files to be uploaded from the client computer to
the server. It allows the online management of files. Also, HTML files may
be created and edited right on the server through a browser-based WYSIWYG
editor.

Changes: This release has the same functionality as 0.0.2, but the script
has been completely rewritten to incorporate the AJAX Web development
technique for creating a more interactive Web application. The intent is
to make Web pages feel more responsive by exchanging small amounts of XML
data with the server, so that the entire Web page does not have to be
reloaded each time the user makes a change. This is meant to increase
interactivity, speed, and usability.

Office/Business :: Financial
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: jDTAUS is a Java implementation of the German DTAUS file format as
specified by Zentraler Kreditausschuss. It implements the DTAUS
specification version 2.0 (dated November 2005). The API was written with
mass-data support in mind and provides all possible kinds of operations on
a DTAUS file. Performance or memory critical sections of the code can be
hand-tuned via a property file without rebuilding the code. The API is
based on an abstraction layer for I/O operations, so implementations can
be adopted to other persistence mechanisms.

Changes: Deprecations have been added for jdtaus-api-2.1. All instances of
super have been replaced with .this. In the DTAUS implementation, the
default language has been canged from English to German. The distribution
jar files have been split for compile time and run time per directory.

to create server-side SIP applications using a component-based model
similar to that envisioned by the J2EE architecture. The Jiplet container
runs as a standalone server as well as a JBOSS service.

Changes: This release works with Java 1.5. Improvements to the Windows
startup script have been made. The proxy code has been modified to handle
ACK and CANCEL messages properly for a stateful proxy. Some enhancements
have been made to the container managed authentication area. Many bugfixes
have been made.

within a tree structure. Each account can be described by multiple
attributes (such as user name or URL), file attachments, and comments. The
history of each password change can be tracked. All passwords are stored in
a single XML file using OpenPGP messages.

Changes: Drag and Drop in the object tree has been implemented. There is
no chmod-save on linux. Localization of the quick-search field has been

Education

About: Puzzle Maps is a software version of the Montessori Puzzle Maps
activity. It presents users with a choice of maps in which they can remove
and replace the various countries or states that make up the map. In this
way, they familiarize themselves with the geography of the world.

Changes: This release sees the addition of South America, so most
significant countries are now included. It keeps track of which maps the
users has completed.

the R language.

Changes: The focus of this release has been to fix many bugs and to rework
the code responsible for handling plugins. The most notable new features
are a number of new plugins (Histogram, Boxplot, Distributions) and syntax
highlighting in the R Console.

[032] - runit 1.5.0 (Development)
  by Gerrit Pape (http://freshmeat.net/users/pape/)
  Sun, Apr 16th 2006 15:54

System :: Boot :: Init

About: runit is a cross-platform Unix init scheme with service
supervision; a replacement for sysvinit and other init schemes. It runs on
GNU/Linux, *BSD, Mac OS X, and Solaris, and can easily be adapted to other
Unix operating systems. runit implements a simple three-stage concept.
Stage 1 performs the system's one-time initialization tasks. Stage 2
starts the system's uptime services (via the runsvdir program). Stage 3
handles the tasks necessary to shutdown and halt or reboot.

Changes: The svlogd program supports a new configuration option p to
optionally prefix each line written to logs, standard error, or through
UDP with a string, and no longer strips empty lines from the logs. The sv
program has been fixed to not report a service to be started up when in
state finish.

Communications
Internet
Software Development

About: Serlvers is a set of Erlang modules designed to help in the
implementation of IP services (i.e. TCP/IP or Internet servers). Serlvers
consists of a set of behaviours to abstract the internals of each
protocol, and other modules to help with the infrastructure. The goal is
that when making a server, you only need worry about how to store, handle,
process, etc. the information instead of the internals of each protocol (to
save countless hours of RFC reading).

[034] - sipX 3.2.0 (Stable)
  by Martin (http://freshmeat.net/users/sipfoundry/)
  Sun, Apr 16th 2006 18:57

Communications
Communications :: Internet Phone
Communications :: Telephony

About: sipX is an Enterprise SIP PBX that comes complete with voice mail
and auto-attendant. It can also be used as a high performance enterprise
toll-bypass SIP router. It combines all common calling features, XML-based
SIP call routing, Web-based configuration, and integrated management and
configuration of the PBX and attached phones and gateways. It is a modular
server-based solution that does not require any additional hardware, as it
interoperates with any SIP compliant gateway, phone, or application.

Changes: The most important additions include a fully redundant call
control system providing true high-availability, a SOAP-based Web services
interface, improved performance to accommodate over 5,000 users, remote and
centralized firmware management for phones, and bulk import of user data.
Overall, this release is focused on ease of use, manageability, stability,
and scale for large deployments.

[035] - snake 3D 0.8
  by irush (http://freshmeat.net/users/irush/)
  Sun, Apr 16th 2006 07:56

Games/Entertainment :: Arcade

About: snake3d is a variant of the snake game. You are a snake in a 3d
world trying to eat as many icosahedrons as possible, which makes your
tail longer. To make things worse, there are other snakes in the world.

Changes: Players can now change board settings before the game starts.
Other snakes can be set to follow you instead of the food. All
configurations (snakes, board, and keys) are now saved. Snake tail drawing
was improved (smoother rotation), and so was the head rotation. Some bugs
were fixed (including the key repeat bug).

[036] - ulxmlrpcpp 1.5.0
  by ewi (http://freshmeat.net/users/ewi/)
  Sun, Apr 16th 2006 07:53

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
Software Development :: Object Brokering

About: ulxmlrpcpp is a library to perform calls via XML-RPC in an object
oriented approach. It is possible to create both client and server
applications in multithreaded environments. Unlike other implementations,
it does not insist on HTTP for transportation, but might also accept other
ways (e.g. a simple serial line with a user-defined protocol). For HTTP as
a transportation protocol, the following features are supported: cookies,
SSL/TLS, proxy, SSL/TLS over a proxy, and chunked transfers. ulxmlrpcpp is
also able to transmit data faster with binary XML.

Changes: This release includes several medium fixes and improvements.

[037] - Virtual Object System 0.23.0
  by Peter Amstutz (http://freshmeat.net/users/tetron/)
  Sun, Apr 16th 2006 18:39

Games/Entertainment :: First Person Shooters
Games/Entertainment :: Multi-User Dungeons (MUD)
Internet

About: The Interreality project is a collection of Open Source, Free
Software projects based on the Virtual Object System (VOS) platform. The
goal is to develop a free and open platform for multi-user 3D virtual
reality games, applications, and interactive, collaborative 3D virtual
spaces. VOS is a powerful and generic network object framework designed to
support a variety of high-performance applications. It is the basis for
Ter'Angreal, a general-purpose browser application for entering and
participating in 3D worlds.

Changes: wxTer'Angreal now loads a default space instead of leaving you at
a black screen. The demo world at interreality.org has been improved. There
is a new human-readable XML Object Description (XOD) file format. There is
a new loading and saving framework that handles importing/exporting from
both native and foreign file formats. The VOSApp framework has been
rewritten. This release significantly reorganizes the source code and
reduces external dependencies, which should make VOS easier to build.
