Information Management :: Issue Tracking
Software Development :: Bug Tracking

About: AgileTrack is an agile development planning and iteration tracking
tool. It assists in the creation and life-cycle of iterations, projects,
stories, tasks, and bugs. It is focused on simplicity and practicality.
Its interface is designed to be useful specifically for software
developers on small development teams with rapidly-changing priorities and
requirements. Its primary interface for developers is geared toward
availability, speed, and purpose. It is flexible and minimalistic with
respect to the data that is required for records. It is designed to be
compatible with agile development methodologies, particularly Extreme
Programming.

Changes: This release adds a framework for internationalization of the
user interface. Users may create custom language files if desired and
those are automatically available in the interface. It also provides a
JSON-RPC Web service interface for the client and server. Lastly, it
improves speed of the XML-RPC interface.

[002] - Aircrack-ng 0.4
  by Thomas d'Otreppe (http://freshmeat.net/users/aircrackng/)
  Mon, Apr 17th 2006 00:13

Security
System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking

About: aircrack-ng is a set of tools for auditing wireless networks. It's
an enhanced/reborn version of aircrack. It consists of airodump (an 802.11
packet capture program), aireplay (an 802.11 packet injection program),
aircrack (static WEP and WPA-PSK cracking), airdecap (decrypts WEP/WPA
capture files), and some tools to handle capture files (merge, convert,
etc.).

Changes: Typos were fixed and cosmetic changes were made in the sources
and manpages. The attack names were renamed in airepley-ng. Some compile
warnings were fixed in airodump-ng, hopping also on .11a channels if
available. A problem in which GPS coordinates were never shown was fixed.
ipw2100 and madwifi-ng detection were fixed in airmon-ng. Speed
optimizations were done in aircrack-ng. The -x option disables the last 2
keybytes bruteforce (so WEP cracking is faster). With the -a option, you
can use "wep" or "wpa" instead of numbers. The --merge option in ivstools
was fixed. The Makefiles were improved. Lots of little changes were made.
Files for building RPM and Slackware packages were added.

[010] - check_logfiles 1.2.5
  by lausser (http://freshmeat.net/users/lausser/)
  Mon, Apr 17th 2006 10:59

System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring

About: check_logfiles is a plugin for Nagios which checks logfiles for
defined patterns. It is capable of detecting logfile rotation. If you tell
it how the rotated archives look, it will also examine these files. Unlike
check_logfiles, traditional logfile plugins were not aware of the gap
which could occur, so under some circumstances they ignored what had
happened between their checks. A configuration file is used to specify
where to search, what to search, and what to do if a matching line is
found.

Changes: Release 1.2.4 had a bug in the fake seek algorithm. This could
lead to dropped events that occurred between a check_logfiles run and a
logfile rotation.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
System :: Networking

About: Cherokee is a very fast, flexible, and easy to configure Web
Server. It supports the currently widespread technologies: FastCGI, SCGI,
PHP, CGI, TLS and SSL encrypted connections, Virtual hosts,
authentication, on the fly encoding, Apache compatible log files, and much
more. It also provides two versions. The default one scales up in SMP
systems. Besides, it is also possible to compile u-Cherokee, a much
smaller version of the server suitable for embedded devices.

Changes: This version fixes an unhandled error case, fixes a bug in the
MIME types file support, and fixes the Content-Type header in the
directories handled by dirlist. Finally, there are some changes to make it
write the PID file using the right user ID.

  Mon, Apr 17th 2006 11:00

Communications :: BBS
Communications :: Chat
Communications :: Email

About: Citadel is an advanced messaging and collaboration system for
groupware and BBS applications. Users can connect to Citadel using any
telnet, WWW, or client software. Among the features supported are public
and private message bases (rooms), electronic mail, real-time chat,
paging, shared calendaring, address books, mailing lists, and more. Unlike
other collaboration servers, Citadel provides its own data stores and is
therefore extremely easy to install; you don't have to "bring your own"
email and database because they're built in. The server is multithreaded
and scalable. In addition, SMTP, IMAP, and POP3 servers are built-in for
easy connection to Internet mail. Citadel is both robust and mature; it
has been in production since 1987.

Changes: The LDAP connector has been updated with a new schema, and now
works cleanly with the latest version of OpenLDAP. Extensive testing and
tuning has been performed under FreeBSD. The Citadel system should operate
much better on FreeBSD (as well as Linux). Support for "webcal" (iCalendar
over HTTP/WebDAV) has been introduced. You can now use calendar clients
such as Mozilla Sunbird, Apple iCal, and Ximian Evolution with your
Citadel calendar. Web calendaring now supports "bubble popups" to show the
details of any event you hover over with the mouse.

  Mon, Apr 17th 2006 00:20

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players :: MP3

About: Cymbaline is a learning music player. It sets a score for each
track based on your listening habits, and you can set thresholds to create
playlists with your favorite tracks automatically. In random mode, it will
play your favorite tracks more often. It also allows album-based
navigation: you can start playing the next album, skip 2 albums ahead, go
to a specific album, etc. It has a random queue mode where you see a list
of randomly chosen tracks that play consecutively. The queue is also built
based on song scores.

Changes: Support for resizing xterm (or any other term) was added. Mouse
support was added for switching to new songs. The "delete songs from
queue" command, threshold commands, and $favcd command were fixed. The
"seek to given time" command was added. The "w" command was fixed. The
"repeat last operation" command was fixed. The size of random the queue
was increased to fit in large screens. Some invalid commands that were
crashing the player, the "lp" command, and the "<" and ">" volume commands
were fixed. The help lines for some commands were brought up to date. The
"{" and "}" commands were added for faster seeking within the song. A few
small cosmetic problems were fixed.

Internet :: Name Service (DNS)

About: Dnsmasq is a lightweight, easy to configure DNS forwarder and DHCP
server. It is designed to provide DNS and (optionally) DHCP to a small
network. It can serve the names of local machines which are not in the
global DNS. The DHCP server integrates with the DNS server and allows
machines with DHCP-allocated addresses to appear in the DNS with names
configured either in each host or in a central configuration file. Dnsmasq
supports static and dynamic DHCP leases and BOOTP for network booting of
diskless machines.

Changes: This release fixes the netlink problems seen with 2.27 on older
Linux kernels and the crashes seen when linking against uclibc on versions
2.26 and 2.27. Enhancements include support for RFC 3046 relay agent-ids
and large DHCP messages. The code to support embedded systems (those
without battery-backed RTCs and with flash filesystems) has been
significantly enhanced, and made usable under *BSD. Memory use (text and
data) is down.

[023] - GalaxyHack 1.63

Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Real Time Strategy
Games/Entertainment :: Simulation

About: GalaxyHack allows you to design a fleet of spaceships which can
then be tested in AI script based battles against fleets designed by other
players. Though battles take place in real time, the strategy comes
beforehand, both in writing short AI scripts in an easy-to-use proprietary
scripting language, and also in the set up and selection of your forces.

Changes: The main change is that the forum is open again, and that you are
once again able to submit fleets. Since 1.62 there are only a couple of
very minor code changes (the dependency on SDL_gfx has been removed, and
the game no longer draws a circle with a radius of 1 when displaying the
range of a ship without a weapon).

years old. It includes more than 60 activities. It offers activities
dedicated to little kids like learning the mouse and keybord. It teaches
letters, numbers, words, basic algebra training, reading time on an analog
clock, vector drawing, and much more.

Changes: A new menu system was added. A new magic hat activity was added.
A memory-like activity was added, but is based on mathematics, so a 2+2
card matches the 4 card. A command line switch was added to disable the
exit and config buttons. Voices for Dutch were added. A fix was made for
Clock refresh in the time window. The internal help was changed to use a
GTK textview with a scrollbar. Erase has 10 sublevels to let small
children play longer. Sudoku has a new level 5x5 with numbers.

  by Christian Hargraves (http://freshmeat.net/users/engrean/)
  Mon, Apr 17th 2006 14:43

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
Software Development :: Testing

About: Jameleon is an automated testing framework that can be used by
technical and non-technical users alike. One of the main concepts behind
it is to create a group of keywords or tags that represent different
screens of an application. All of the logic required to automate each
particular screen can be defined in Java and mapped to these keywords. The
keywords can then be organized with different data sets to form test
scripts without requiring an in-depth knowledge of how the application
works. The test scripts are then used for both testing automation and test
case document generation.

Changes: Several features were added to the HttpUnit plug-in, including an
upgrade to HttpUnit 1.6.2. A few features were added to the Jiffie plug-in,
and some annoying bugs were fixed in the UI. Param tags can now be nested
in data-drivable tags, and variables can be passed to scripts via Ant.

About: Jitterbit is an integration tool for designing, configuring,
testing, and deploying integration solutions. It supports many document
types and most standards-based protocols, including XML, Web Services,
popular databases, text files, FTP, HTTP, and others. The integration
server runs on both Windows and Linux and is configured using a Java-based
user interface that is designed to make integration quick, easy, and
intuitive to complete. With the UI, users can define their integration
operations from start to finish: adding source and target systems, using
drag-and-drop mapping to transform data, setting schedules, creating
success/failure events, and tracking all of their deployed integration
operations.

Changes: This release includes a revamped installer that makes it much

About: The purpose of the GCC-XML extension is to generate an XML
description of a C++ program from GCC's internal representation. Since XML

[057] - SVG Slice 0.13
  by Digital Unleashed (http://freshmeat.net/users/DigitalUnleashed/)
  Mon, Apr 17th 2006 04:55

Artistic Software
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Multimedia :: Graphics

About: SVGSlice is a simple tool which generates chopped up images from
Inkscape SVG drawings. To figure out where to cut, SVGSlice can use
Inkscape's built in guides (for simpler, grid-like cuts), or it can use a
specially named "slices" layer that contains rectangles that mark areas to
slice. Demo files showing both approaches are included.

Changes: SVGSlice now works directly within Inkscape as an extension.
Usage was simplified, removing guide-based slicing mode, so that
rectangles on a slices layer is the only method users need to worry about.

[061] - The SlotSig library 1.0.0
  by kafka-fr (http://freshmeat.net/users/kafkafr/)
  Mon, Apr 17th 2006 11:17

Software Development :: Libraries

About: The SlotSig library tries to provide a solution to the common
problem of sending messages between various C++ classes (this has nothing
to do with Corba or KDE's DCOP). Similar solutions to this problem can
also be found in Qt or libsigc++, but this library tries to be both
simpler to use and smaller. It also provides better type-checking at
compile-time to avoid finding errors at runtime, when it's usually too
late.

Changes: Incorporates the Makefile from Leopold Palomo-Avellaneda to
generate a global shared library containing the very small amount of
static code. Updated benchmarks. The 1.x versions of SlotSig will remain
binary-compatible. No major new features are expected; mainly cosmetic
changes and bugfixes. The main line of development will be done in a
1.99.x branch, which may someday lead to a 2.0 version.

About: TrueCrypt is on-the-fly disk encryption software that can create a
virtual encrypted disk within a file and mount it as a real disk. It can
also encrypt an entire hard disk partition, or a storage device such as
USB memory stick. It supports plausible deniability.

Changes: Among the new features are the ability to create a TrueCrypt
volume under Linux, the ability to create a ‘dynamic’ container whose
physical size (actual disk space used) grows as new data is added to it,
the ability to change volume passwords/keyfiles under Linux, the ability
to create keyfiles under Linux, and many more. This release makes the
Linux version completely independent of the Windows version. However, both
versions will continue to be mutually compatible.

[066] - VMD 1.8.4
  by VMD (http://freshmeat.net/users/vmd/)
  Mon, Apr 17th 2006 14:40

Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Rendering
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers
Scientific/Engineering

About: VMD (Visual Molecular Dynamics) is designed for the visualization
and analysis of biological systems such as proteins, nucleic acids, lipid
bilayer assemblies, etc. It may be used to view more general molecules, as
VMD can read standard Protein Data Bank (PDB) files and display the
contained structure. VMD provides a wide variety of methods for rendering
and coloring a molecule: simple points and lines, CPK spheres and
cylinders, licorice bonds, backbone tubes and ribbons, cartoon drawings,
and others. VMD can be used to animate and analyze the trajectory of a
molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. In particular, VMD can act as a
graphical front end for an external MD program by displaying and animating
a molecule undergoing simulation on a remote computer. VMD uses OpenGL and
OpenGL Programmable Shading Language for high performance rendering of
large structures.

Changes: This is the first version ported to Mac OS X on Intel x86
processors, Linux on Intel Itanium processors, and AIX 5.x on 32-bit and
64-bit POWER processors. Structure building, modeling, simulation setup,
and analysis tasks are made easier with the introduction of the new
plugins, which automate common modeling tasks. This release has core
enhancements including support for selecting and displaying files
containing multiple conformations, improved atomic mass and radius
guessing, and improved handling of non-biological structures containing
hundreds of thousands of atoms.

[067] - watchdog 5.2.5
  by Michael Meskes (http://freshmeat.net/users/meskes/)
  Mon, Apr 17th 2006 11:15

About: The Linux kernel can reset the system if serious problems are
detected. This can be implemented via special watchdog hardware, or via a
slightly less reliable software-only watchdog inside the kernel. Either
way, there needs to be a daemon that tells the kernel the system is
working fine. If the daemon stops doing that, the system is reset.
watchdog is such a daemon. It opens /dev/watchdog, and keeps writing to it
often enough to keep the kernel from resetting, at least once per minute.
Each write delays the reboot time another minute. After a minute the
watchdog hardware will cause the reset. In the case of a software
watchdog, the ability to reboot will depend on the state of the machines
and interrupts.

Changes: Mostly bugfixes. Some developments for 6.0 are already included.

  Mon, Apr 17th 2006 10:03

Software Development
Software Development :: Debuggers
Software Development :: Quality Assurance

About: YourKit Java Profiler is a CPU and memory profiler that makes it
easy to solve wide range of CPU- and memory-related performance problems.
It features automatic leak detection, powerful tools for the analysis of
memory distribution, an object heap browser, comprehensive memory tests as
part of your JUnit testing process, extremely low profiling overhead,
transparent deobfuscation support, and integration with Eclipse, JBuilder,
IntelliJ IDEA, NetBeans, and JDeveloper IDEs.

Changes: The Mac OS X on Intel platform is supported. A new profiling mode
was added which provides both method CPU times and invocation counts, but
does not monitor internals of methods from core library classes (java.*,
javax.*, com.sun.*, sun.*). The benefit is in much smaller overhead than
when all methods are monitored. Accuracy of CPU profiling was improved on
Linux, Mac OS X, and Solaris.
