  Fri, Jun 16th 2006 06:07

Printing

About: abcm2ps is a package that converts music tunes from ABC format to
PostScript. Based on abc2ps version 1.2.5, it was developed mainly to
print baroque organ scores that have independant voices played on one or
more keyboards, and a pedal-board. It introduces many extensions to the
ABC language that make it suitable for classical music.

Changes: This new stable release is based on the 4.x.y development branch,
and features lots of improvements and enhancements. It corrects a bad
horizontal offset of tempo (Q:) when M:none.

  Fri, Jun 16th 2006 02:39

Office/Business :: Financial
Software Development :: Libraries

About: AqBanking is a modular and generic interface to online banking
tasks, financial file formats (import/export) and bank/country/currency
information. It provides frontends for Qt, KDE, GTK, and console.
AqBanking uses backend plugins to actually perform the online tasks. HBCI,
OFX DirectConnect, YellowNet, GeldKarte, and DTAUS discs are currently
supported. AqBanking is used by GnuCash, KMyMoney,and QBankManager.

Changes: The YellowNet plugin now uses XML files provided by PostFinance
instead of hard-to-get MT940 files when downloading transaction
statements. It also contains some OFX-related fixes and an improved German
translation.

  Fri, Jun 16th 2006 10:19

Database :: Front-Ends
System :: Shells

About: Bash.Diff is a patch against Bash shell. In the main core, it adds
the following syntax: {a..b}; ${var|...}; then-else-fi to
for/while/until/case statements; try-block with string exception; <&lt+;
and, <<<<. As builtin, it adds the following: sscanf(3), <string.h>,
<ctype.h> wrappers; array, regex(3), stack, queue operations; GDBM,
SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL database interfaces; HTML template engine
(BASP); Expat XML parser interface; x-y char plot; DOS, CSV, Awk support;
Libwebserver interface; RPN calculator with <math.h> functions; and, GTK+2
interface for GUI dialog.

Changes: A fixed string pattern (think grep -F) can be specified for the
'match' builtin. The 'creditcard' builtin now accepts user-specified
weight, and can print check digit instead.

[007] - bosh 0.3
  by Alex Sisson (http://freshmeat.net/users/alexsisson/)
  Fri, Jun 16th 2006 06:32

About: bosh takes the output of the specified command and displays it
using a simple ncurses interface. Actions can be configured and run using
the currently selected line of the output as part of the action. An
example is to use ps as the main command and kill as an action. Then,
using bosh, the ps output can be browsed to find a particular process,
which is then killed.

Changes: This release adds support for actions with output, passing
command-line parameters to configurations, simple multi-line selection, a
preaction setting for command code to run before actions and an
autorefresh setting to re-run the command automatically after a certain
number of seconds.

  by Geekoid (http://freshmeat.net/users/geekoid/)
  Fri, Jun 16th 2006 10:15

Internet
Office/Business
Security :: Cryptography

About: Email sends email to remote SMTP servers via the command line,
which makes it useful in cron jobs. It will send to any RFC standard
remote ESMTP server, and will allow you to encrypt, sign, and design your
message on the fly. It has the capability to use signature files with
dynamic options, address book functionality, and users can also attach
pictures, binary files, documents, or whatever they want. It is completely
compatible with GNUPG for encryption and signing, and is easy to configure
and use.

Changes: This release separates the email name and address and only
formats them in the headers. It only uses addresses surrounded by &lt:> as
per RFC 822 for the MAIL FROM: and RCPT TO: SMTP commands. It uses Dstrings
for reading the config file and address book. This fixes the MINBUF
limitations that were happening with very long Groups in the address book.
The ability to specify new headers on the command line has been added. \r
is handled in the address book so that Cygwin users don't have to put a
comment at the end of their lines.

  Fri, Jun 16th 2006 10:17

About: htmlcxx is a simple non-validating CSS1 and HTML parser for C++.
The parsing politics attempt to mimic the behavior of Mozilla Firefox, so
you should expect parse trees similar to those create by Firefox. However,
it does not insert non-existent stuff in your HTML. Therefore, serializing
the DOM tree gives exactly the same output as the original HTML document.
Another key feature is an STL-like tree navigation API provided by the
tree.hh template library.

automatic expanding and collapsing, routing, and layouts. You can create

[027] - Linux Firewall 2.0rc11-pre2 (Development)
  by Scott Bartlett (http://freshmeat.net/users/network/)
  Fri, Jun 16th 2006 11:34

Internet
Security
System :: Networking

About: Projectfiles.com Linux Firewall is a single shell executable
written in bash with configuration options and basic documentation
included in the same file. It supports features such as access control and
port forwarding, and is flexible enough to be used on workstations,
routers, and servers. It has built-in syntax and configuration safeguards
with verbose success and failure messages. Support is available through an
online knowledge base with over 900 related articles.

Changes: This release adds minor bugfixes and a new feature: the default
behavior of RFC 1122 compliance depends on whether or not there are
services available to the public. The decision to change the default
behavior of the firewall is explained by a brief essay on port security.

[036] - ReleaseForge 1.1
  by Phil Schwartz (http://freshmeat.net/users/phil_schwartz/)
  Fri, Jun 16th 2006 05:13

About: ReleaseForge is a GUI application designed for project
administrators and release engineers of projects that are hosted at
SourceForge. It is intended to make it easier and faster to create a new
release and edit existing releases rather than using the SourceForge Web
interface. It streamlines the release effort by prompting you for
information regarding your new release (version info, change log, release
notes, files to include, etc). It then seamlessly negotiates with the
SourceForge Web server, creating your release, posting your release
notes/change log, uploading your files to the SourceForge FTP server,
selecting the files for inclusion in your release on the SourceForge Web
server, updating the file attributes of each of the files and then, if
appropriate, notifying monitoring users of the new release.

Changes: This release contains a fix for a bug that occurred when creating
a new release which was introduced in 1.0. Additionally, a "Re-Guess"
feature was added to effortlessly reset all file attributes when editing
an existing release.

  by Andrea Barisani (http://freshmeat.net/users/lcars/)
  Fri, Jun 16th 2006 06:43

System :: Monitoring

About: tenshi (formerly wasabi) is a log monitoring program designed to
watch a log file for lines matching user defined regular expressions and
report on the matches. The regular expressions are assigned to queues that
have an alert interval and a list of mail recipients. Queues can be set to
send a notification as soon as there is a log line assigned to them, or to
send periodic reports. Additionally, uninteresting fields in the log lines
(such as PID numbers) can be masked with the standard regular expression
grouping operators ( ). This allows cleaner and more readable reports. All
reports are separated by hostname and all messages are condensed when
possible.

Changes: Sanity checks were improved. Debug levels were added, and level 2
enables Net::SMTP debug messages. Getopt::Std was replaced with
Getopt::Long. The filter feature is now definable per queue. A special
noprefix queue was added for unprefixed logs. Supplementary groups
clearing when dropping privileges was added. An ISC-style license is now
used.
