Ever wonder why HP has seven consecutive years of Linux market share
Maybe it's our portfolio of best-of-breed partner products, or HP
value-add in management, high availability, and virtualization. Maybe it's
the integrated, consolidated infrastructure of HP BladeSystem,
single-source accountability and solution support from HP Services in 160
countries, or just our unwavering commitment to the open source community.

About: abcm2ps is a package that converts music tunes from ABC format to
PostScript. Based on abc2ps version 1.2.5, it was developed mainly to
print baroque organ scores that have independant voices played on one or
more keyboards, and a pedal-board. It introduces many extensions to the
ABC language that make it suitable for classical music.
Changes: This release implements bigger horizontal space for microtonal
accidentals.

Wed, Jul 12th 2006 17:02
Software Development :: Version Control
System :: Archiving :: Packaging
System :: Installation/Setup
About: Conary is a distributed software management system for Linux
distributions. It replaces traditional package management solutions (such
as RPM and dpkg) with one designed to enable loose collaboration across
the Internet. It enables sets of distributed and loosely connected
repositories to define the components which are installed on a Linux
system. Rather than having a full distribution come from a single vendor,
it allows administrators and developers to branch a distribution, keeping
the pieces which fit their environment while grabbing components from
other repositories across the Internet.
Changes: Entitlement management interfaces have been expanded. The conary
migrate command has an important fix for not-by-default components. Conary
can now unpack sources from Rock Ridge and Joliet ISO image files.

yourself, so it's easily adoptable for many requirements. The encryption
is handled through GnuPG, and the data inside is stored as XML.

Wed, Jul 12th 2006 22:58
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Software Development :: Libraries
About: NeatUpload allows ASP.NET developers to stream uploaded files to

[066] - Sequoia 2.9
by Emmanuel Cecchet (http://freshmeat.net/users/cecchet/)
Wed, Jul 12th 2006 10:46
Database
Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Database :: Front-Ends
About: Sequoia (formerly known as the Clustered JDBC project) provides
high availability and performance scalability for databases. It provides
transparent database clustering (partitioning, replication, etc.) to any
Java application through JDBC. It works with any Java application without
code modification and with any database engine. It has been successfully
tested with Tomcat, JBoss, JOnAS, WebSphere, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache
Derby, HSQLDB, SAP DB, Oracle, DB2, Sybase, MS SQL Server, Firebird, and
more.
Changes: This release has many stability and usability improvements
including new human readable logs. New features such as full support for
SQL warnings are now also available. The transaction scheduling and
logging strategy were redesigned to fix some correctness issues and to
allow asynchronous execution of queries among the backends (results can
now be returned as soon as the first node has successfully completed).
Appia was standardized as the default group communication for Sequoia as
it proved to be faster and more robust than JGroups.

new features include a fully functional command line interface with
corresponding man page and an implementation of safe break points. You can
safely break any command using a reasonable signal like SIGINT and all
changes made so far will be automatically rolled back. Bew command
verbosity selection options were implemented.

[069] - Stunnix JavaScript Obfuscator and Encoder 3.3
by Stunnix (http://freshmeat.net/users/stunnix/)
Wed, Jul 12th 2006 12:31
Internet
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
About: Stunnix JS-Obfus protects your JavaScript code from potential
analyzing/studying/reworking by unwanted parties. It's both an obfuscator
and encoder for the JavaScript/JScript source code. It converts the
JavaScript/JScript source files into highly mangled and obfuscated form,
making it extremely difficult to study, analyse, reuse, and re-work for
competitors or customers, while fully retaining functionality of the
original source code, and then encodes it afterwards, making it completely
unreadable. There are a lot of options to control all aspects of code
hiding, and full support for all syntax constructs. It is designed to be
multi-module aware.
Changes: Names of MSIE-specific properties of Style object have been added
to the list of reserved names for client-side Web scripts. Usability and
minor improvements to the Project Manager GUI have been introduced.
Improvements to the documentation and minor fixes in the code have been
made.

by Jason Turner (http://freshmeat.net/users/lefticus/)
Wed, Jul 12th 2006 12:28
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Religion
About: Suite-C Web is a collection of modules for Drupal that allow a
church to manage itself and communicate with its memebers. It currently
consists of a PrayerRequests module, which lets Web site visitors submit
prayer requests and later mark requests as "answered" (or no longer
relevant), which filters the request from the list of current prayer
requests. Prayer requests can be marked as for the pastor's eyes only, for
private requests. It also contains a module for making announcements about
upcoming events.
Changes: This release cleans up the method by which node status are marked
(such as "answered" or "expired") for all modules. It fixes help messages
for the biblestudy module.

[071] - Synbak 1.0.5
by Ugo Viti (http://freshmeat.net/users/ugoviti/)
Wed, Jul 12th 2006 17:04
About: Synbak is an application designed to unify several backup methods.
It provides a powerful reporting system and a very simple interface for
configuration files. It can make backups using rsync (over the ssh, rsync,
smb, and cifs protocols), tar (tar, tar.gz, and tar.bz2) archives, tape
(even using multi-loader changer tapes), LDAP databases, MySQL databases,
CDR/CD-RW/DVR/DVD-RW, and more. It can make reports using email, HTML
pages, and RSS feeds. Developers can easily write new backup methods,
reports, and translations.
Changes: It is now possible via Oracle's "exp" command to make a full dump
of local or remote oracle database servers. A new information field has
been added to the ASCII detailed report: synbak server hostname. A bug in
the MySQL local method has been fixed. This release uses a better way to
manage the temp directory on old systems. Many fixes in the CIFS/SMB mount
and remote host checks.
