Ever wonder why HP has seven consecutive years of Linux market share
Maybe it's our portfolio of best-of-breed partner products, or HP
value-add in management, high availability, and virtualization. Maybe it's
the integrated, consolidated infrastructure of HP BladeSystem,
single-source accountability and solution support from HP Services in 160
countries, or just our unwavering commitment to the open source community.

[001] - AFNIX programming language 1.3.0
by Amaury C. Darsch (http://freshmeat.net/users/amaury/)
Fri, Jul 14th 2006 04:42
About: AFNIX is a multi-threaded functional programming language with
dynamic symbol bindings that support the object oriented paradigm. It has
a rich set of features providing runtime compatibility with C++. The
engine runs on both 32- and 64-bit platforms, and it is designed to be
portable across platforms.
Changes: This release adds support for MacOS X Tiger with a universal
binary and Fedora Core 5 for the X86/64 platform. The core language has
been extended to support the basic multi-language plane 0. Numerous
classes have been updated, and two new modules have been added to the core
system.

[002] - appctl 1.5
by Rainer Meier (http://freshmeat.net/users/skybeam/)
Fri, Jul 14th 2006 15:47
System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
System :: Software Distribution
Utilities
About: Appctl is a framework for virtually any server software. It
provides a central script called "ctl" which allows you to start, stop,
restart, maintain, or query the current status of an application. It is
meant as a completely generic replacement for application-specific
startup/stop scripts. The project also supplies generic monitoring scripts
for clusters, which can dramatically decrease clustering costs.
Changes: Some comments and output have been fixed. A PID_WRITE
configuration flag has been added to allow enabling/disabling writing of
PID file during handler startup. This allows disabling PID file writing in
case the handler writes one by itself. When invoked as root, the script no
longer asks for a username. This allows running handlers as root. Output
when a non-running handler is stopped has been added.

[006] - C++ Regex Engine 1.06a
by unr_stuart (http://freshmeat.net/users/unr_stuart/)
Fri, Jul 14th 2006 23:58
Text Processing
About: C++ Regex Engine provides a robust regular expression library for
use in C++. The syntax of the regular expression language is very close to
the Perl 5 standard. The classes given somewhat mirror those found in
Java's regular expression library, but have several improvements. The
intended audience of this package is anyone who does a lot of data parsing
(e.g. sysadmins), people tired of trying to decipher Perl scripts, and
regular expression beginners who know C++. Some knowledge of the STL's
vector and string will come in handy, but isn't necessary.
Changes: Unicode regular expressions and text now compile and run on
apple-gcc.

About: CeaMuS is a lightweight content management system for Webmasters
who want something fast and easy to use. It is easy enough that
non-technical customers can update sites without flooding you with
support calls, and it does not require a database or a script processing
engine. The appearance of your Web site is completely custom based on your
template file.
Changes: All outstanding bugs have been fixed; everything works as
designed. Almost all configuration has been moved out of the config file
and into the database, greatly easing site maintenance.

About: CuteFlow is a Web-based document circulation/workflow tool. Users
are able to define "documents", which are sent step-by-step to every user
in a list. It provides an electronic method for doing internal document
circulations.
Changes: New Fieldtypes were added: Large Text, Radiobuttons, Checkboxes,
Combobox, and File. Standard values in fields are considered now. You can
now fill all fields before sending the circulation. The possibility to set
validiation rules for each field was added. It's now possible to configure
the standard sorting direction. A progress bar for each circulation was
added. Assigning fields or users to slots is now more user-friendly. A bug
was fixed in which a user's substitute entries remained in other user's
settings after deleting that user.

remote Windows and VNC sessions. NX lets you work fluently even across
slow links like modems. The NX project provides a suite of libraries and
X11 proxying agents implementing efficient compression and optimized
transport of X11, SMB, IPP, HTTP, and arbitrary protocols like audio over
the Internet.
Changes: The server now allows you to apply restrictions on the amount of
disk space available for each guest. This release fixes (together with the
new node) a number of bugs affecting the first 2.0.0 release, including a
display reconnection error when migrating the session from Windows to
Linux, an inability to verify the nx user when the sshd port is not the
default 22, keyboard layouts falling back to the default US in an RDP
session, and sessions not starting on Solaris when the SSH_CLIENT variable
was not exported correctly by bash.

by Kir Kolyshkin (http://freshmeat.net/users/k001/)
Fri, Jul 14th 2006 11:20
System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux
About: OpenVZ is a modified Linux kernel with additional support for
OpenVZ Virtual Environments (VE, also known as VPS). VEs are isolated,
secure environments on a single physical server, enabling better server
utilization and ensuring that applications do not conflict. Each VE
performs and executes exactly like a stand-alone server; VEs can be
rebooted independently and have root access, users, IP addresses, memory,
processes, files, applications, system libraries, and configuration files.
Due to a single kernel model, OpenVZ has native performance and very high
density. It is the core of Virtuozzo.
Changes: Updated to mainstream's 2.6.16.24, fixing CVE-2006-2451.

[042] - Socat 1.5.0.0 (Stable)
by Gerhard Rieger (http://freshmeat.net/users/rieger/)
Fri, Jul 14th 2006 03:43
Utilities
About: Socat is a relay for bidirectional data transfer between two
independent data channels. Each of these data channels may be a file,
pipe, device (terminal or modem, etc.), socket (Unix, IP4, IP6 - raw, UDP,
TCP), a client for SOCKS4, proxy CONNECT, or SSL, etc. It provides forking,
logging, and dumping, different modes for interprocess communication, and
many more options. It can be used, for example, as a TCP relay (one-shot
or daemon), as a daemon-based socksifier, as a shell interface to Unix
sockets, as an IP6 relay, for redirecting TCP-oriented programs to a
serial line, or to establish a relatively secure environment (su and
chroot) for running client or server shell scripts with network
connections.
Changes: This release adds datagram support, enhanced IPv6 integration,
sane command line parsing, support for resolver and ext3fs options, and a
lot of new minor features and fixes.
