About: Advanced Stock Tracking System (AST) is a Web-based application for
keeping track of stocks. It features a portfolio with dividend tracking, a
worksheet to keep track of prospects, a stock comparison utility, and a
search engine for the stock market based heavily on technical analysis.

Changes: This release fixes problems adding security to the portfolio. It
adds a checklists feature and fixes other minor bugs.

[002] - Apache SpamAssassin 3.1.4 (Stable)
  by Theo Van Dinter (http://freshmeat.net/users/felicity/)
  Wed, Jul 26th 2006 22:55

Communications :: Email :: Filters
Software Development :: Libraries :: Perl Modules

About: Apache SpamAssassin is an extensible email filter that is used to
identify spam. Once identified, the mail can then be optionally tagged as
spam for later filtering. It provides a command line tool to perform
filtering, a client-server system to filter large volumes of mail, and
Mail::SpamAssassin, a set of Perl modules allowing Apache SpamAssassin to
be used in a wide variety of email systems.

Changes: A large number of bugs were fixed. sa-update will no longer leave
SpamAssassin in an unusable state if the first use fails to download or
install an update. sa-update will now be able to use GnuPG on Windows.
Macros such as the one used by report_contact will be replaced when
updates are installed. SpamAssassin was unusable with exim4 when BSMTP
mode is used. A number of documentation updates were also made.

[003] - arp-scan 1.5
  by Roy Hills (http://freshmeat.net/users/royhills/)
  Wed, Jul 26th 2006 08:26

Security
System :: Networking

About: arp-scan sends ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) queries to the
specified targets, and displays any responses that are received. It allows
any part of the outgoing ARP packets to be changed, allowing the behavior
of targets to non-standard ARP packets to be examined. The IP address and
hardware address of received packets are displayed, together with the
vendor details. These details are obtained from the IEEE OUI and IAB
listings, plus a few manual entries. It includes arp-fingerprint, which
allows a system to be fingerprinted based on how it responds to
non-standard ARP packets.

Changes: Support was added for BSD systems (FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, and
Mac OS X). Startup time and memory usage were reduced for large target
networks. Operation of the --srcaddr option was improved. All ethernet
frame fields and ARP packet fields can now be controlled. Documentation
was improved. IEEE OUI and IAB listings were updated. Additional
fingerprints were added for arp-fingerprint.

[004] - bosh 0.4
  by Alex Sisson (http://freshmeat.net/users/alexsisson/)
  Wed, Jul 26th 2006 11:45

About: bosh takes the output of the specified command and displays it
using a simple ncurses interface. Actions can be configured and run using
the currently selected line of the output as part of the action. An
example is to use ps as the main command and kill as an action. Then,
using bosh, the ps output can be browsed to find a particular process,
which is then killed.

Changes: This release adds support for user-input to parameters, a method
of aborting a configuration if it is invoked incorrectly (BOSHERR),
multi-line entries in configuration files to aid readability, a configure
script, and a few minor fixes.

[006] - Conary 1.0.24
  by Michael K. Johnson (http://freshmeat.net/users/johnsonm/)
  Wed, Jul 26th 2006 12:13

Software Development :: Version Control
System :: Archiving :: Packaging
System :: Installation/Setup

About: Conary is a distributed software management system for Linux
distributions. It replaces traditional package management solutions (such
as RPM and dpkg) with one designed to enable loose collaboration across
the Internet. It enables sets of distributed and loosely connected
repositories to define the components which are installed on a Linux
system. Rather than having a full distribution come from a single vendor,
it allows administrators and developers to branch a distribution, keeping
the pieces which fit their environment while grabbing components from
other repositories across the Internet.

Changes: The conary query and repquery commands now take a --what-provides
argument. Update behavior has been refined when updating pinned troves.
This release discovers CIL dependency version mappings in .config files.

[007] - DiffJ 1.0.7
  by Jeff Pace (http://freshmeat.net/users/JEugenePace/)
  Wed, Jul 26th 2006 08:08

Software Development

About: DiffJ is a commandline application that compares Java files based
on content, not whitespace, comments, or reordering of types, methods, or
fields. Its output is based on the Unix program diff, and it also has a
"brief" output format for a concise summary of what changed. It can work
on directories recursively, looking for matching filenames, like "diff -r
dir0 dir1". It is primarily for developers refactoring and reformatting
Java code, for which most difference tools tend to produce misleading
results regarding the type and extent of changes.

Changes: This version includes a significant performance improvement.

Multimedia
System :: Filesystems
System :: Networking

About: djmount is a UPnP AV client. It mounts the media content of
compatible UPnP AV devices as a Linux filesystem (using FUSE). The audio
and video content on the network is automatically discovered, and can be
browsed as a standard directory tree. djmount should work with any UPnP AV
compliant devices or software servers. Currently tested devices include
TwonkyVision UPnP Music Server on Linux, GMediaServer on Linux, GeeXboX
uShare on Linux, Ahead Nero MediaHome Server, and Microsoft Windows Media
Connect.

Changes: This release implements "search" operations on UPnP AV files: see
examples in the documentation. Also, only multimedia files are now directly
visible; other items are moved in hidden "dot" directories (e.g.
".metadata").

About: NatACL is a firewall group policy controller for intranets and the
Internet. It is made of 3 main programs: a DHCP server, a Web
authenticator (the old NatACL functionality), and a statistic collector.
It forces users to use a DHCP client. Group policies can be based on MAC
address. ACLs may be created to control which group may see other groups.
Users can be forced to authenticate over the Web. Internet access can be
restricted by using DNAT/SNAT. Different networks (subnets) can be placed
on the same logical network.

Changes: A crash which occurred when a new machine is added was fixed. The
NatACL_web POP3 authentication module is working. Makefile errors were
fixed. Loss of precision on 32-bit machines was fixed.

[050] - Wormux 0.7.2
  by Haypo (http://freshmeat.net/users/haypo/)
  Wed, Jul 26th 2006 12:16

Games/Entertainment

About: Wormux is a game in which the mascots of your favorite free
software systems battle in an arena. Using dynamite, grenades, baseball
bats, bazookas, and other weapons, you must exterminate your opponents in
a 2D cartoon style setting and a funny environment. Although a minimum of
strategy is required to vanquish, Wormux is pre-eminently a "convivial
mass murder" game where, turn by turn, each member of each team attempts
to produce a maximum of damage to the opponents.

Changes: The project has been ported to SDL, and a new graphical engine
has been developed (now most configurations have 50 FPS). The use of a new
physical engine allows the creation of a ninja rope and jet pack. An
explosive gnu and an airhammer have also been added. The graphical quality
of the game is better. It works on PowerPC and AMD-64, and packages for a
lot of Linux distributions, FreeBSD, and Windows are available. Thanks to
Unicode and TTF, it's possible to display any character (eg. play in
Russian). There is also a new Web site.

normally executed one after another, no matter how many processors are
available. xjobs allows batching those jobs while still keeping the

[052] - XML_PullParser 1.0.4
  by Myron Turner (http://freshmeat.net/users/turnermm03/)
  Wed, Jul 26th 2006 22:57

Text Processing :: Markup
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML

About: XML_PullParser moves the API of the PHP XML facility from an
event-based model to a token-based model. Instead of processing data as it
is passed from the parser to callbacks, a script using PullParser requests
"tokens" from XML_PullParser_getToken() and a number of helper functions.
Tokens are arrays representing XML structures, which become available in
the order in which they appear in the document being parsed. Methods are
provided both to get tokens and to extract their data.

Changes: This release fixes a bug in the XML_PullParser_getSequence()
method which can cause the return of inaccurate results when its
sequencing array is put into effect, particularly when getting text. It
was felt to be an important enough problem to issue this release in
advance of the promised release that will incorporate error checking and
tracking. This was also used as a chance to update, expand, and correct
some of the documentation.

is fully configurable and also features transparent proxy mode, preemptive
name resolution, operation in either daemon mode or (x)inetd mode, a
detailed access log with compression statistics, basic authentication, and
more.

Changes: This version introduces an experimental HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
