About: AutismS is a user-friendly GUI to send SMS through existing SMS Web
sites. It's a graphical front-end for the MoioSMS program, designed to stay
discreetly on your system tray and to be easy and functional when you need
it. Currently only two Italian sites are supported (www.190.it and
www.RossoAlice.it), but others can be easily added in the SenderPlugins
file.
Changes: This release adds an enhanced message log system, multiple
account support, and a global message count.

About: BalanceNG is a modern software IP load balancing solution. It is
small, fast, and easy to use and setup. It offers session persistence,
different distribution methods (Round Robin, Random, Hash, and Least
Resource) and a customizable UDP health check agent in source code. It
supports VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) to set up high
availability configurations on multiple nodes. It integrates pcap packet
dumping for debugging purposes and allows the implementation of a
"transparent forensic logging bridge".
Changes: Sending of IP address conflict ARP probes is now controlled by
the new parameter "sendprobes", which is off per default. VRRP handling in
dual node trial license mode has been improved. The manual has been updated
to release 1.585.0.

Documentation
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: The Big Faceless Report Generator is a Java application for
converting source documents written in XML to PDF. Built on top of the Big
Faceless PDF & Graph Libraries, the Report Generator combines these
features and wraps an XML parser around them. Using JSP, ASP, XSL, or
similar, creating dynamic PDF documents directly from a database is now as
easy as HTML.
Changes: Some tweaks were made to allow Graphs created with the Graph
Library 2 to be embedded into a Report. Although theoretically this can be
done no matter how the report is generated, these changes work best when
the report is created using a JSP.

by lausser (http://freshmeat.net/users/lausser/)
Thu, Jul 27th 2006 14:11
System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring
About: check_logfiles is a plugin for Nagios which checks logfiles for
defined patterns. It is capable of detecting logfile rotation. If you tell
it how the rotated archives look, it will also examine these files. Unlike
check_logfiles, traditional logfile plugins were not aware of the gap
which could occur, so under some circumstances they ignored what had
happened between their checks. A configuration file is used to specify
where to search, what to search, and what to do if a matching line is
found.
Changes: This release adds "watchdog" patterns that raise an alert when
not found. It adds exceptions for patterns that stop processing of a
preceding match. There is more documentation in the README. Syntax errors
have been fixed.

System :: Logging
About: Logback is intended as a successor to the popular log4j project,
and was designed by its founder. The basic architecture is sufficiently
generic so as to apply under different circumstances. It is divided into
three modules. The Core module lays the groundwork for the other two
modules. The Classic module can be assimilated to an improved version of
log4j. It natively implements the SLF4J API so that you can readily switch
back and forth between logback and other logging systems, such as log4j or
JDK14 Logging. The Access module integrates with Servlet containers to
provide HTPP access log functionality. You can easily build your own
modules on top of the Core module.

[023] - madwifi 0.9.2
by madwifi_org (http://freshmeat.net/users/madwifi_org/)
Thu, Jul 27th 2006 10:31
About: Madwifi provides a Linux kernel device driver for Atheros-based
Wireless LAN devices. The driver presents the WLAN card as a normal
network interface. It includes support for Virtual APs, which makes it
possible to configure a single radio as several APs, and support for
multiple modes such as a station, ad-hoc, or monitor. The driver is
compatible with the Wireless Extensions API, which allows a Madwifi device
to be configured with common wireless tools (ifconfig, iwconfig, and
friends). Madwifi is released under a dual BSD/GPL v2 license, except for
the binary-only HAL.
Changes: This release addresses some of the known scanning and build
issues. An iwspy signal strength threshold feature now allows a monitored
device to raise an iwspy userspace event when the threshold is crossed.
The sample rate algorithm now provides statistics via the /proc file
system. The next release most probably will take more than just another
month. There are reported problems with scanning and associating, and the
next release will address these issues.

[033] - Open Blue Lab 1.2.5 (Accounting)
by Jean-Christophe Kermagoret (http://freshmeat.net/users/jck/)
Thu, Jul 27th 2006 07:16
Office/Business
Office/Business :: Financial :: Accounting
Office/Business :: Groupware
About: Open Blue Lab is a rapid application development framework for
building portal applications based on Web 2.0. It is currently being used
to develop a full Web ERP from scratch. Portal layout may be configured
through the UI, and Ajax and HTML-based forms are automatically built from
XML widget definitions, which may be generated on the fly from a UML model
that describes your information system. Widgets are dynamically populated,
making them data-aware automatically at run time with no need to code any
database interaction. This framework allows you to focus on Information
System design, with forms and portal architecture being generated
automatically.
Changes: A new horizontal menu was added, with 2 sub-tabs for Customer and
Supplier section. A new vertical menu was added, with an item which allows
the user to go back to the main section page. With the Openbluelab
accounting module, you can now create accounting entries, books (journal),
accounts (for Customer, Supplier, and General accountancy), invoices, and
settlements.

[036] - Perforce 2006.1 (Stable)
by Perforce Software (http://freshmeat.net/users/perforce/)
Thu, Jul 27th 2006 05:38
Software Development :: Version Control
About: Perforce is a software configuration management system that is
fast, robust, runs on over 50 platforms, and scales to over 3000 users on
a single repository. It supports atomic submits and works well over wide
area networks, including the Internet.
Changes: The Perforce server can now log individual file access to an
audit logfile: when enabled the server logs every time file content is
transfered to a client. The 'p4 integrate' command was rewritten, leading
to better performance, better recognition of previous integrations
resulting in fewer merges, and better base selection resulting in simpler
merges. The merge algorithm was also rewritten and produces fewer
conflicts to resolve, making automatic merging ('p4 resolve -am') more
likely to succeed.

Thu, Jul 27th 2006 06:35
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
Software Development :: Localization
About: Piragibe is a business database driven application framework. Its
main goal is to mimic, as closely as possible, the capabilities and
behaviour of Oracle Forms. It offers a metaphor that resembles Oracle
Developer with data blocks, forms, triggers, and events, a neat layer of
data validation capable of validating fields, records, and blocks of
records under programmatic control, clear separation and independence
between database access, programmatic views of database data and visual
presentation of data and information, access to any database supported by
PHP, national language support, and the ability to develop CRUD
applications with a few lines of code.
Changes: Classes have been added for native connection to MySQL and Oracle
(OCI8) databases. Installation instructions and a topic about the query by
example feature have been added.

[039] - Plan 9 From User Space 20060723
by ems (http://freshmeat.net/users/ems9/)
Thu, Jul 27th 2006 01:11
Software Development
About: Plan 9 From User Space is a port of the bulk of the Plan 9 software
build environment to Unix. While the libraries make an attempt to play nice
with the rest of the system (by using the Unix rules for printf verbs and
Unix system headers, for example), this port tries to reproduce the Plan 9
build environment as faithfully as possible, providing u.h and libc.h, and
blithely redefining tokens such as open, dup, and accept in order to
provide implementations that better mimic the Plan 9 semantics. The result
is a more complicated and less Unix-friendly environment, but Plan 9
programs can typically be compiled with little or no changes.
Changes: Major feature enhancements and bugfixes. A new '9pfuse'
application was included.

[046] - ROCK Linux 3 (Stable)
by blindCoder (http://freshmeat.net/users/blindcoder/)
Thu, Jul 27th 2006 01:10
System :: Operating System
System :: Software Distribution
System :: Systems Administration
About: ROCK Linux is a distribution build kit for creating Linux
distributions. You can easily design and build your own distribution by
choosing packages, compilers, and optimization options, and optionally
enable the GCC Stack-Smashing Protector for enhanced security. It is also
possible to choose custom configure options, cross-compile, and much more.
Many specialized targets (customized distributions) have already been
created, such as a Desktop, Router, or Minimal distribution. A variety of
architectures are supported.
Changes: Packages can be forked (gcc=gcc3, gcc=gcc4) to reduce code
duplication. Packages can be split (gcc, gcc:doc, gcc:dev) to reduce
necessary filesystem space after installation. Postinstall scripts can be
run to setup the application after installation rather than after
compilation. Every ROCK script now has a -help text. udev has replaced
devfs. Toolchain compilation for cross-builds has been made easier.
Cluster Builds, Pseudonative Builds, and Cross Builds have been made
easier. Lots of other improvements were made, and practically all of the
1600 packages were updated.
