[001] - ACL2 3.0.1
  by Jared Davis (http://freshmeat.net/users/aiken11/)
  Sat, Aug 5th 2006 21:07

Scientific/Engineering
Scientific/Engineering :: Artificial Intelligence
Scientific/Engineering :: Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

About: ACL2 is a mathematical logic, programming language, and mechanical
theorem prover based on the applicative subset of Common Lisp. It is an
"industrial-strength" version of the NQTHM or Boyer/Moore theorem prover,
and has been used for the formal verification of commercial
microprocessors, the Java Virtual Machine, interesting algorithms, and so
forth.

Changes: Several bugs were fixed, including a soundness bug. Efficiency
has been significantly improved, and the regression suite runs about 20%
faster. New features include time limits for the prover, enhanced controls
for compilation with certify-book, and a new utility for debugging failed
encapsulate and progn events.

[002] - APIlitAx 0.9.8
  by Thomas Steiner (http://freshmeat.net/users/googletomac/)
  Sat, Aug 5th 2006 00:01

About: APIlitAx is an Ajax application that allows users to manage their
Google AdWords accounts in an interactive and asynchronous way. The
application behaves almost like a program on your desktop, but runs
entirely in your Web browser. The name APIlitAx is a combination of the
names of the two central components of the application: APIlity and Ajax.

Changes: Some changes were made to the UI. Creatives are displayed in a
WYSIWYG style. Criteria and Creatives are displayed with mouse-over
details. Campaigns and AdGroups now have a "Detach" button that opens the
particular object in a new JavaScript window. The APIlity layer was
updated to version 1.4.5. Some of the JavaScript code was moved over to
the RootsRock toolkit. Many minor bugfixes were made.

[003] - Aware 0.11.1
  by Russell Leighton (http://freshmeat.net/users/rleighton/)
  Sat, Aug 5th 2006 20:38

System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: The Aware project is an effort to create a software framework for
measuring, monitoring, and controlling computer system resources. It is
intended to enable system administrators to tune system variables, set
monitoring/security alarms, and build adaptive distributed systems. Aware
modules may be linked into applications making them 'aware' and able to
participate in the larger managed system.

Changes: This major beta release provides a new Web-based interface using
a built-in websever and a Sqlite database. The old PHP/MySQL GUI is gone.
Installation and configuration were simplified and the run-time footprint
is now very small relative to similar systems. The user interface now has
threshold alerts on metrics (e.g, traffic), and more reports. There are
new handlers for mDNS, Sqlite, and BigBrother. Two new applications
included are a small faster static Web server (xap) and multicast file
copy programs (mcctx and mccrx).

[008] - Blob Wars : Blob and Conquer 0.3
  by Scarfy (http://freshmeat.net/users/Scarfy/)
  Sat, Aug 5th 2006 01:33

Games/Entertainment :: Arcade

About: Blob Wars : Blob and Conquer is a 3rd person action shooter. With
the apparent defeat of Galdov and the reclaiming of the Fire, Time, Space,
and Reality Crystals, the Blobs' battle was only just beginning. Bob had
rescued many Blobs and fought many battles, but now he had an ever bigger
task ahead of him. The Blobs' homeworld is still littered with the alien
forces and Bob once again makes it his task to lead the counter attack.
But even without Galdov the aliens are still extremely well organised.

Changes: All main levels were implemented. Some new weapons and new
enemies were added. Some minor speed improvements were made.

[009] - CakePHP 1.1.7.3363
  by PhpNut (http://freshmeat.net/users/PhpNut/)
  Sat, Aug 5th 2006 21:03

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: Cake is a rapid development framework for PHP which uses commonly
known design patterns like ActiveRecord, Association Data Mapping, Front
Controller, and MVC. Its primary goal is to provide a structured framework
that enables PHP users at all levels to rapidly develop robust Web
applications without any loss to flexibility.

Changes: A vulnerability where the Not Found error page could be exploited
by inserting JavaScript code in the address bar was fixed. This release
also includes some improvements to the bake script and prepares for the
day when the controller object is not available in the view. Cakebaker
mentioned the addition of the session helper. It is recommended that
everyone upgrade and change all references to $this->controller->Session
in the view to the new helper, $session. Several bugs were fixed.

[010] - Colored Sudoku 1.1
  by baKno (http://freshmeat.net/users/bakno/)
  Sat, Aug 5th 2006 21:49

About: Colored Sudoku is a puzzle inspired by the famous Japanese game
where a simple 4x4 grid has to be filled with colors instead of numbers.
It is good for beginners, who will soon find why Sudoku is so addictive

[012] - Dnsmasq 2.33
  by Simon Kelley (http://freshmeat.net/users/simonkelley/)
  Sat, Aug 5th 2006 20:53

Internet :: Name Service (DNS)

About: Dnsmasq is a lightweight, easy to configure DNS forwarder and DHCP
server. It is designed to provide DNS and (optionally) DHCP to a small
network. It can serve the names of local machines which are not in the
global DNS. The DHCP server integrates with the DNS server and allows
machines with DHCP-allocated addresses to appear in the DNS with names
configured either in each host or in a central configuration file. Dnsmasq
supports static and dynamic DHCP leases and BOOTP for network booting of
diskless machines.

Changes: This release adds the ability to store the DHCP lease database in
an external database such as a relational database or NV storage. Dnsmasq
will call a script to access the database as required. A sample
implementation using the "nvram" command found in some Linux router
distributions was included in the contrb section. The only significant
bugfix repairs problems encountered when using the DHCP-relay function on
some Cisco routers.

  Sat, Aug 5th 2006 21:51

Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
Software Development :: Object Brokering

About: elemenope is an Enterprise Application Integration, Service
Oriented Architecture, and general messaging framework. It provides the
capability for massive decoupling of an enterprise's components through
standardized interfaces for communications. It provides complete
abstraction of both transmission protocol and functional components. A
project may connect components via a particular protocol standard, and
completely change the protocol technology deployed with a simple change to
a configuration file, i.e. no code changes. It implements the following
connector sets: JMS, SOAP, XML-RPC, direct call, and native IBM MQSeries.
It allows an organization to easily create a large scale multi-platform
application to conduct messaging or transaction processing. It simplifies
architecture of large systems by standardizing functional components and
message pathways.

Changes: An Enterprise XML-RPC Service Transport Protocol implementation
was added. An embedded Jetty HTTP server allows full enterprise capability
in XML-RPC services with simplified deployment. A Generic Filesystem
Ingestion Operation implementation that allows automated processing of
files was added. All examples from the elemenope User Guide Cookbook are
now within the standard configuration file. Minor bugfixes were made.

About: Grabit is a unique game that challenges your hand-eye coordination.
Each of the nine blocks on the rotating shape corresponds to one key on
your keyboard (numeric keypad on regular keyboards). Filling the missing
blocks of this rotating shape by simultaneously pressing the corresponding
keys will add green lights to your meter until four are reached and a new
shape has to be grabbed. Shapes not grabbed will decrease your meter and
eventually, when four red lights are reached, the game is over. Try to

announcements with X-Chat, an automatic stream shut-off timer, MP3 or Ogg
streaming and recording at various bit rates, aux input for connecting
external JACK aware applications, and audio level meters.

Changes: A new player architecture was implemented using a simple audio
decoding engine within the mixer module itself wrapped around xine-lib.
This provides quicker player startup/shutdown times, reduced system load,
and faster seek times. Gapless playback was implemented for albums that
lack silences between tracks. Tracks that have five seconds of unbroken
silence in them are skipped there and then to avoid the streaming of long
periods of silence. A dither option was added for people with 24-bit
capable soundcards. The metadata tagger window can now be resized.

Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP

About: Openmailadmin is a little administration interface to every
complete IMAP mail server daemon. It supports every feature IMAP provides,
and fits in most MTA configurations. A key feature is the non-standard,
generic administration hierarchy which not only seperates "normal users"
from "administrators", but enables the mailserver-master to create
instances between them. You will be able to let other users create their
own sub-users and thus either share a single mail server between different
organizations or project your company's employee structure. It excels with
features such as regex addresses and folder ACL management.

Changes: Openmailadmin is now the first Web-based administration frontend
to support new ACLs as suggested in RFC 4314 and implemented in Cyrus
2.3.0 and later. The password hash method can now be chosen. This version
has been largely rewritten for PHP 5.1 and PHP 6 and UTF-8 is now the
default character set. Support for logger was implemented and the IMAP
libraries were optimized.

About: Ruby/Amazon is a simple Ruby library that allows one to retrieve
information from the popular Amazon.com Website via Amazon Web Services.
It aims to wrap the grunt work of interacting with the Amazon API behind
a high-level layer of Ruby and, in so doing, make it easier to use.

Changes: The library will now follow HTTP redirections a maximum of
Amazon::Search::MAX_REDIRECTS times before aborting a search. A bug that
caused reassignment of a request object's locale to not trigger the
establishment of an HTTP connection to the new locale's server was fixed
along with a bug in multiple search methods, whereby the 'keywords'
parameter was not URL-escaped. Multiple methods have undergone minor
changes to comply with changes made by Amazon to AWSv3 in March 2006.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search

About: SRESI is a smart bookmark manager, with many interesting tricks
sadly bundled in a lousy interface. SRESI works with both the standard
hierarchical trees and the new and fashionable tagged bookmarks. It was
developed as a way to interface both representation systems. SRESI can use
Del.icio.us, Mozilla, Opera, and XBEL bookmarks, and handles a few more
exports besides. Directories and tags are used equivalently, and the final
hierarchies are inferred from actual tag use.

Changes: Del.icio.us importation crashed when there was no user name or an

About: Libutf8proc is a library for processing UTF-8 encoded Unicode
strings. Unicode normalization, mapping of new line functions (NLF) to
standard paragraph and line separators, stripping of default ignorable
characters, case folding, and detection of grapheme cluster boundaries are
supported. The library can be used in C programs, but most of the
functionality is also available as a Ruby library. For PostgreSQL, there
is an extension providing a function for preparing strings in
case-insensitive indices.

Changes: Unicode version 5.0.0 is now supported. New functionality for
marking grapheme cluster boundaries (character boundaries) as defined in
Unicode Standard Annex #29 was added. The new Ruby method String#char_ary
returns an array of all grapheme clusters. A bug that caused the Ruby
library to crash when compiler optimizations were used was fixed.

It includes an SMS composer for multi-part SMS messages, and it can
display SMS messages that include pictures. Currently, only text and
predefined bitmaps or sounds can be edited in the SMS composer. It can
export messages to an IMAP4 server (or other email storage).

Changes: This release includes full support for Windows including
installer download. Many bugs were fixed.
