[006] - BMP 0.21.0 (Development)
  by Milosz Derezynski (http://freshmeat.net/users/queuerunner/)
  Thu, Aug 10th 2006 22:55

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players

About: BMP is a media player that partially uses GTK+2 and partially uses
a skinned interface which supports Winamp 2.x compatible skins. It
combines efficiency with simplicity to enable users to perform tedious
tasks with ease. The primary goals of BMP are not lots of features, but
usability and effectiveness for handling music.

Changes: BMP now uses a versioning scheme like GNOME's: odd versions (like
0.21.x) indicate development releases, and even numbers (like 0.22.x)
indicate final releases. New features include a statistics and rating
system for tracks, enhanced metadata reading and writing (WMA, MPC, and
MP4 are supported), and better support for MusicBrainz metadata. Support
for P2P downloads using Soulseek with museekd+moodriver was added (these
packages are not included). It is now possible to preview items added to
the library and discard unwanted ones.

  Thu, Aug 10th 2006 13:22

Software Development :: Libraries

About: The C Generic Library is a collection of data structures designed
and created in as generic a fashion as possible. Each data structure will
contain its own basic memory management, be able to handle any object
type, and hopefully constrain to strict algorithmic constraints. It
contains doubly linked list, vector, deque, stack, queue, open and closed
hash tables, and a binary tree structure, with list and vector based
versions available for deque, stack, and queue.

Changes: Common code has been factored into a separate header file. Common
functions have been factored into a separate header file for ease of
implementation. The code has been cleaned up and a little more
documentation has been provided.

[010] - Domino Javadoc Generator 0.4
  by Ferdinand Prantl (http://freshmeat.net/users/prantl/)
  Thu, Aug 10th 2006 06:41

Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Documentation

About: This project aims to create a documentation to the Lotus Notes API
for Java in a standard format common in the Java comunity and accepted by
the most IDEs for Java. The Lotus Notes API is delivered as a Java archive
together with the original documentation in the native format of a Domino
database with the IBM Domino Designer. The documentation can be read only
in the Lotus Notes. Java-oriented tools cannot use it to display a
description of a Java class, to browse classes and their methods or to
offer an automatic code insertion based on a Java object and its class.
The goal is to create a Javadoc documentation together with a
pseudo-source code of the Lotus Notes API. The documentation can be
viewed, indexed and integrated to IDEs. The pseudo-source code can be
integrated to IDEs to support object browsing and automatic source code
insertion.

Changes: The content of the generated documentation has been
significantly improved. Additional pages have been added, hyperlinks are
now working, and rendering of tables has been fixed. Upgrading is highly
recommended.

About: OSSP cfg is a ISO-C library for parsing arbitrary C/C++-style
configuration files. A configuration is sequence of directives, each
directive consists of zero or more tokens, and each token can be either a
string or again a complete sequence. This means the configuration syntax
has a recursive structure and allows you to create configurations with
arbitrarily-nested sections. The configuration syntax also provides
complex single/double/balanced quoting of tokens,
hexadecimal/octal/decimal character encodings, character escaping, C/C++
and shell-style comments, etc. The library API allows importing of a
configuration text into an Abstract Syntax Tree (AST), traversing the AST,
and optionally exporting the AST again as a configuration text.

GNU shtool 2.0.6, and GNU autoconf 2.60.

About: p-gal is a static (offline) photo gallery generator. It has
powerful support for templates. It allows the user to embed Python code in
the HTML template files, so he can customize page appearance as much as he
wants.

Changes: Cheetah is now used for templating, resulting in cleaner syntax
and more powerful templates. The syntax of the desc file was changed and
is now simpler. Better template file handling was implemented, allowing
you to define as many files as you want, rather than just one for the
index and one for images. Some more documentation was provided.

[059] - Ragel State Machine Compiler 5.11
  by Adrian Thurston (http://freshmeat.net/users/age/)
  Thu, Aug 10th 2006 12:44

Software Development :: Code Generators

About: Ragel compiles finite state machines from regular languages into C,
C++, Objective-C, or D code. It allows the programmer to embed actions at
any point in a regular language, and to control non-determinism in the
resulting machines. It understands concatenation, union, kleene star,
subtraction, intersection, epsilon transitions, and various other common
operators. It also supports the construction of scanners and the building
of state machines using state charts. It can be used to create very fast
recognizers and parsers that are also robust.

Changes: Improvements to the build process were made. By default, the
shipped code no longer builds the parsers, eliminating dependencies on
flex, bison, and gperf. It can be reenabled by flipping a config variable.

[065] - Slam-Edit 3.2.1
  by mikeStabie (http://freshmeat.net/users/mikeStabie/)
  Thu, Aug 10th 2006 07:51

Scientific/Engineering :: Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

About: Slam is a mature IC Layout editor with the ability to edit very
large designs (such as stream files larger than 10GB). Novel features
include threading for redraw, support for displaying on multiple X servers
simultaneously, and a Tcl interface to the database for user extensibility.
The system is a library based system with multi-user support. Programmable
structures (P-Cells) are available in Tcl. The editor includes gds input
and output.

Changes: This release fixes issues found with the upgrade to tcl8.4. The
release also adds a new edit in place command that provides better
graphical feedback in conjunction with a form, allowing the level of
descent to be easily controlled. Lastly, the release adds a modified

  Thu, Aug 10th 2006 14:12

Information Management :: Metadata/Semantic Models
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Browsers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search

About: SRESI is a smart bookmark manager, with many interesting tricks
sadly bundled in a lousy interface. SRESI works with both the standard
hierarchical trees and the new and fashionable tagged bookmarks. It was
developed as a way to interface both representation systems. SRESI can use
Del.icio.us, Mozilla, Opera, and XBEL bookmarks, and handles a few more
exports besides. Directories and tags are used equivalently, and the final
hierarchies are inferred from actual tag use.

Changes: Hints are now used correctly during tree generation. A
demonstration of their use has been added to the demo site. The
add_bookmark function now updates structures as well as possible without
rebuilding them completely. The output filters have been improved
somewhat.

System :: Archiving
System :: Logging

About: Tea4CUPS is similar in functionality to the *nix command "tee", but
in the form of a CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) backend. Tea4CUPS
captures a print job's data in their final form while they are being sent
to a printer (more precisely, to a CUPS backend), and at the same time
allows you to dispatch these data to any number of commands.

Changes: Access to the same printer devices by different print queues or
print servers is now serialized to avoid problems. Support for CUPS 1.2.x
and higher was improved. The administrator can now stop tea4cups with
SIGINT. A configurable retry directive in the configuration file gives you
more control over what to do when the real CUPS backend fails. The
documentation and sample configuration file were improved.

formatting, and it integrates easily with other programs and with
scripting languages.

Changes: The xmlroff manpage is available in DocBook XML. The Cairo
backend is less experimental. Cairo backend SVG output was added, and is
really experimental. Handling of base for relative URIs when "--compat"
is used was added. "auto" is handled for page width and height. Checking
