About: 64 Studio is a collection of native free software for digital
content creation on x86_64 hardware (AMD's 64-bit CPUs and Intel's EM64T
chips). It's based on the pure 64 port of Debian GNU/Linux, but with a
specialised package selection and lots of other customisations. The
distribution includes the Linux kernel with realtime preemption patches,
the GNOME desktop, and a selection of creative applications, covering
audio and music, 2D and 3D graphics, and publishing for the Web and print.
It also includes Internet and office tools that a creative user is likely
to need for their daily work.
Changes: This beta release features an AMD64 install image reduced in size
to fit on a CD-R (a DVD burner is no longer required to make install
discs). An alternative i386 'Old Skool' edition is now available. It works
on everything from a Via C3 processor upwards, just more slowly. The
snd_seq module now loads automatically at boot time by default.

About: AcpiTool is a Linux ACPI client. It's a small command line
application, intended to be a replacement for the apm tool. The primary
target audience are laptop users, since these people are most interested
in things like battery status, thermal status and the ability to suspend
(sleep mode). The program simply accesses the /proc/acpi or /sysfs entries
to get or set ACPI values. A computer running a Linux kernel from the 2.4.x
or 2.6.x series with ACPI enabled is needed. It also supports various
extensions for Toshiba, Asus, and IBM Thinkpad laptops.
Changes: This release fixes the output for Bogomips and C-state usage for
everything that looks like an SMP system (Intel Core Duo, Pentium 4 with
HyperThreading, AMD Opteron, etc.).

About: AntiDialer is a QT-based broadband dialer for Sify Broadband users
in India. It has features comparable to the Sify Windows dialer, such as
password saving and autologin. Now Sify users no longer have to depend
upon the old default dialer provided by Sify.
Changes: MAC address spoofing is now part of the dialer. It can be
activated by editing the $HOME/.antidialer/antidialerrc configuraton file
and entering the desired MAC address in the "value" property of the
"MacAddress" element. The dialer now adds missing configuration elements
into the config file. The plugin framework is now cleaner and faster. An

About: DansGuardian is a Web content filtering proxy that uses Squid to do
all the fetching. It filters using multiple methods including, but not
limited to, phrase matching, file extension matching, MIME type matching,
PICS filtering, and URL/domain blocking. It has the ability to switch off
filtering by certain criteria including username, domain name, source IP,
etc. The configurable logging produces a log in an easy to read format. It
has the option to only log text-based pages, thus significantly reducing

About: Ruby/Amazon is a simple Ruby library that allows one to retrieve
information from the popular Amazon.com Website via Amazon Web Services.
It aims to wrap the grunt work of interacting with the Amazon API behind
a high-level layer of Ruby and, in so doing, make it easier to use.
Changes: In methods that use the 'keywords' parameter, it was being
URL-encoded too early, which could lead to format-specifier-related
exceptions. This is another manifestation of the bug that was believed
fixed in 0.9.1. When using shopping carts, the purchase URL now works
within the 'uk' locale. Previously, only the 'us' locale worked. In all
likelihood, the other locales can now use it too.

About: Seed7 is a general purpose programming language. It is a higher
level language compared to Ada, C++, and Java. In Seed7, new statements
and operators can be declared easily. Functions with type results and type
parameters are more elegant than a template or generics concept. Object
orientation is used when it brings advantages and not in places when other
solutions are more obvious. Although Seed7 contains several concepts of
other programming languages, it is generally not considered as a direct
descendant of any other programming language.
Changes: A description of the 'func', 'varfunc', and 'proc' types was
added to the manual. The 'parse' operator for the 'time' type was
improved. The '<=', '>' and '<' operators were added for the 'duration'
type. The Windows graphic driver was improved to use the SetPixel
function. The filOpen function was changed to open files in binary mode.

About: SRESI is a smart bookmark manager, with many interesting tricks
sadly bundled in a lousy interface. SRESI works with both the standard
hierarchical trees and the new and fashionable tagged bookmarks. It was
developed as a way to interface both representation systems. SRESI can use
Del.icio.us, Mozilla, Opera, and XBEL bookmarks, and handles a few more
exports besides. Directories and tags are used equivalently, and the final
hierarchies are inferred from actual tag use.
Changes: The Bookmarks API was refined and the Formats API was rewritten,
mostly for portal exports (along with the corresponding code). A few
functions were hooked to the application engine, though most are not
currently accessible from the UI (structure building and deleting, the
export of individual portal elements). The data set can now be archived
with some structures pre-built (or not). There is also a switch in the CLI
to balance data structures (-b). The user-oriented exports (JavaScript and
the portals) now warn when they are built from unbalanced data structures.

About: w98podfetch is a script for downloading podcast subscriptions. It
also suppots a free online service that will let you build lists of
subscribed podcasts, and by naming the list, share that list with other
w98podfetch users. You can also build your own XML configuration and
specify options such as fetching a maximum number of files from a feed,
stopping downloading of a feed before you reach 50MB, stopping downloading
anything else before you reach 100MB worth of files, fetching a feed in
oldest-to-newest order, fetching smaller files before bigger files, and so
on.
Changes: This version includes minor bugfixes, a new feature for
downloading a single podcast from the entire configuration, and a --debug
option for more verbose output. A changelog.txt file is now included along
with information in the readme.txt file about one user's experience getting
the script to run as a Windows service.
