Ever wonder why HP has seven consecutive years of Linux market share
leadership? Maybe it's our portfolio of best-of-breed partner products, or
HP value-add in management, high availability, and virtualization. Maybe
it's the integrated, consolidated infrastructure of HP BladeSystem,
single-source accountability and solution support from HP Services in 160
countries, or just our unwavering commitment to the open source community.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

Software Development :: Testing
About: Jameleon is an automated testing framework that can be used by
technical and non-technical users alike. One of the main concepts behind
it is to create a group of keywords or tags that represent different
screens of an application. All of the logic required to automate each
particular screen can be defined in Java and mapped to these keywords. The
keywords can then be organized with different data sets to form test
scripts without requiring an in-depth knowledge of how the application
works. The test scripts are then used for both testing automation and test
case document generation.

About: JSP Prize Tags is a JSP tag library. The primary tags are the Tree
Tag, Tabbed Pane Tag, and AJAX Tags. The Tree Tag makes it easy to
implement tree controls in your JSP pages. The Tabbed Pane Tag makes it
easy to implement tabbed panes in your JSP pages. You can put any JSP code
inside a tab, and even include other JSPs inside a tab. The AJAX Tags make
it easy to turn your links and forms into AJAX links and forms, which
reload in a table cell or div tag instead of the whole page. Also included
are the icon tag, the alternate tag (for alternating content on the page,
such as the background color of table rows or an ad rotator), laying
calendar events in a table, and more.
Changes: This version contains a new ITreeDao interface. With this
interface, it is now a lot easier to build trees dynamically. Just
implement the interface and set an instance of the implementation on the
ITree instance. The tree will do the rest itself. Tree Tag includes two
tree DAOs already: a FileDao and a DatabaseDao. Users can either use these
DAOs directly or use the source code as inspiration for a custom
implementation.

[031] - JUCE 1.39
by jules (http://freshmeat.net/users/julesRMS/)
Wed, Oct 18th 2006 07:40
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
About: JUCE is an all-encompassing C++ class library for developing
cross-platform applications. It's particularly good for creating
highly-specialised user interfaces and for handling graphics and sound.
The intended users are developers who are building large, complex
applications in C++ and who would like to use just one clean, high-level
API rather than a bunch of different libraries for different purposes or
platforms. Its features include fully lightweight components with
transparency and effects, classes for strings, containers, XML, streams,
file handling, messaging, and event queues, vector graphics, a custom font
engine, image manipulation, OpenGL support, low-latency audio I/O using
CoreAudio, DSound and ASIO, audio buffers and nodes, MIDI file and event
manipulation, Internet streams, undo/redo support, and more.
Changes: Lots of minor features were added, such as audio sampler classes,
new color handling for components, improvements to the Jucer, and helpers
for writing stand-alone apps to run a juce audio plugin.

About: Online Grades is a program that allows K-12+ student grades to be

Misty City's Grade Machine, and PGGP) and places the grade information
online securely. Online Grades was originally based on the SourceForge
project Basmati, and backward compatibility has been maintained.
Changes: This release incorporates several bugfixes and adds a few new

by musicgame (http://freshmeat.net/users/musicgame/)
Wed, Oct 18th 2006 16:34
About: The Million Musician Challenge is a project to allow you to play
music by playing games. The first game is a 2D vertically scrolling

sprites corresponding to the music notes. As you shoot the falling
sprites, you play notes corresponding to the music.
Changes: The game now runs on all screen resolutions. It provides a log

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: VRaptor 2 is a Web-based MVC and IOC framework based on many
frameworks and ideas (Seam, Stripes, Webwork, Hibernate Annotations, etc).
It makes full use of Java 5 Annotations. It favors convention over
configuration, because configuration in XML/properties/annotations is
always easy to make mistakes and repetitive (aka copy and paste in many
places). This framework uses a more imperative approach, instead of having
many XML files to configure lifecycle and other properties. Most of the
settings go inside plain Java objects (POJO), so the team knows exactly
what is going on and where.
Changes: This release supports parameter injection for your logic methods.
A new Eclipse plugin was added. You can download it using Eclipse update
manager at http://www.vraptor.org/eclipse/. Furthermore, the component's
default name has changed. When using the @Component without any string
inside, Vraptor will cut off any Logic from the classname. That simplifies
the @Component annotation, but be aware of backward compatibility issues.
