[001] - AntiCutAndPaste 1.3.1
by Anders (http://freshmeat.net/users/acnp/)
Tue, Nov 7th 2006 09:23
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
Software Development :: Refactoring
Text Processing
About: AntiCutAndPaste is designed to search for text fragments that have
been copied and pasted in programming language source code or plain text.
It has been tested on sources from large C++, Pascal, Java, and C# (Mono)
projects. The algorithms used are very fast and can handle up to three
million C++ code lines in one minute. Minor modifications of code are
ignored during the search. Reports are sorted conveniently by the total
size of all similar fragments and there are many report customization
options.

Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Rendering
Scientific/Engineering
About: BALLView is an extensible viewer for bio-molecular structures. It
provides all standard models and offers rich functionality for molecular
modeling and simulation, including molecular mechanics methods (AMBER and
CHARMM force fields), continuum electrostatics methods employing a
Finite-Difference Poisson Boltzmann solver, and secondary structure
calculation. Since BALLView is based on BALL (the Biochemical ALgorithms
Library), it is easily extensible on the level of C++ code and it has an
Python interface to allow interactive rapid prototyping.
Changes: This version brings full molecular editor functionality and the
finished MMFF94 force field implementation. Toolbars were added to the GUI
for better usability. Some new features for visualizing electrostatics are
also available. Qt 4.2 and MacOS are now supported, and this version is
much more stable than the previously released Alpha version.

[016] - deep 0.8c
by Richard Harris (http://freshmeat.net/users/r_e_h/)
Tue, Nov 7th 2006 06:27
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
About: Deep is a content management system that serves HTML, preformatted
text, Deep shorthand content, or the output of a Lua script using standard
HTML templates and CSS. There is no database, only flat files anyone can
produce. There are hooks provided to sell this content either by single
page or multi-page set through PayPal. You can use Deep to publish others
through PayPal, diverting a percentage of the payments to the publisher
and allowing the rest to go directly to the author. The server makes these
percentages public in order to promote fairness. Deep is also a dynamic
blog server, using simple uploaded text files for entries and generating
all indices on the fly. It requires only a cgi-bin directory on a POSIX
server.
Changes: Because the Logger is intended as an income/traffic generation
tool, blog articles and subsite pages are now the only pages logged.
Several other changes were made to logging. Menu generation was optimized.
A bugfix to PostPal ensures that the last set element is delivered to the
purchaser.

Printing
About: KBarcode is a barcode and label printing application for KDE 3. It
can be used to print everything from simple business cards up to complex
labels with several barcodes, such as article descriptions. KBarcode comes
with an easy-to-use WYSIWYG label designer, a setup wizard, batch import of
labels (directly from the delivery note), thousands of predefined labels,
database managment tools, and translations in many languages. Even
printing more than 10,000 labels in one go is no problem for KBarcode.
Additionally, it is a simple xbarcode replacement for the creation of
barcodes. All major types of barcodes like EAN, UPC, CODE39, and ISBN are
supported.
Changes: This release includes many bugfixes and a greatly improved data
import wizard. TBarcode2 detection was fixed and a checksum was
implemented. A major bug in printing address labels from the KDE address
book was fixed. A new version of Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript was
included, which introduces several new barcode types. Importing data is
now also possible from fixed format files. The import wizard was optimized
to work on really large data files.

It provides you with a clear view of the network and a powerful set of
tools to model, develop, and deploy to real hardware. Netwiser is suited
for wireless ad-hoc network, sensor network, communication systems, QoS
multimedia, and Internet software development.
Changes: A built-in C preprocessor has been added to the build system,
drastically speeding up simulations on Windows (about 40 seconds faster
per simulation). The Netwiser project detection code has been improved,
fixing a bug where some Netwiser projects were not detected as Netwiser
projects on import. Node IDs are now guaranteed to be unique within a

service providers (ISPs).
Changes: This is the third development snapshot for the 0.1.2.x series. It
starts preparing the Tor directory authorities to integrate with Mike
Perry's new Tor controller, so broken exit relays can be autodetected. The
bundles include the new Vidalia 0.0.9 release, which features an improved
interface for setting up and configuring a Tor server. The Windows bundle
also includes Torbutton for simpler installs.

[065] - Web Performance Suite 3.2 Update 2

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Software Development :: Testing
About: The Web Performance Suite is a suite of testing tools for web
servers, including load testing, web page performance analysis, and coming
in 2006 functional testing and performance monitoring. The statistical
analysis in the Load Testing Module takes your site's performance
criteria, and determines the number of users your Web site can handle.
Because data is collected at the URL level, it not only identifies slow
Web pages, but identifies the particular part of the Web page that caused
the problem. It includes hard-to-find features such as IP spoofing, client
certificates, multiple simultaneous test cases, authentication, SSL
recording and playback, automated analysis, AJAX support, SOAP support,
and more.
Changes: This update features about 20 separate bugfixes in every
category. Its well worth the time to install, especially since the manual
was updated as well.

[067] - Zenith Picture Gallery 0.9.2 DEV
by Ali Almossawi (http://freshmeat.net/users/usrc/)
Tue, Nov 7th 2006 04:30
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers
About: Zenith Picture Gallery is a feature-rich picture gallery that
organizes uploaded images into searchable categories, creates thumbnails,
and stores individual statistics for each one. Other features include
downloadable categories and sub-categories, user accounts and profiles,
batch adding via FTP and batch deleting, user comments and ratings, the
ability to add languages and skins, the option to rebuild thumbnails, an
IP blacklist, and a comprehensive admin control panel that provides access
to a great deal of settings and formatting options.
Changes: This version adds a few new features including support for other
media types (as defined by the admin), automatic renaming of files with
duplicate filenames, and much better support for right-to-left languages
(the admin can toggle the page direction). Also, quite a number of bugs
with low to medium levels of seriousness have been fixed, thus allowing
the next version to focus mainly on new features. The code has been
substantially cleaned up in a few parts of the gallery and the way skins
are used is now more efficient than before.
