[001] - AIOTrade 1.0.3
  by Caoyuan Deng (http://freshmeat.net/users/dcaoyuan/)
  Thu, Nov 16th 2006 05:18

Office/Business :: Financial :: Investment

About: AIOTrade (i.e. Humai Trader Platform) is a stock technical analysis
platform with a pluggable architecture that is ideal for extensions such as
indicators and charts. It supports parallel quote data retrieval from
Yahoo! or ASCII text files, historical (daily, weekly, and monthly),
intra-day, and real-time charts, and candle, bar, and line charts. It has
a calendar date/trading date view model. "MACD", "OBV", "ROC", "KD",
"BIAS", "DMI", "RSI", "MTM", and "WMS" indicators and drawing of "Line",
"Parallel", "Gann Angle", and "Fibonacci Line" are supported. You can
easily write your own indicators.

Changes: Charting performance was improved a lot. An integrated scrolling
and zooming controller was added. An icon was added, indicating the data
source, such as from Yahoo!, CSV, or IB. Indicators and drawings are shown
with the same frequency as current charts only. A scrolling real-time chart
window which can pop up as a standalone window was added. An indicator's
title can be double-clicked to pop up a standalone indicator window for
detailed analysis. An experimental IB-TWS data feed interface was added. A
chart can be saved to a custom time frame image, which can be even bigger
than your screen.

[002] - AIS Parser SDK 1.1
  by Brian C. Lane (http://freshmeat.net/users/nexuscompu/)
  Thu, Nov 16th 2006 00:07

Software Development :: Libraries

About: AIS Parser SDK is a library of functions allowing you to add
support for Automatic Identification receivers (AIS) to your project. It
parses ship positions, names, destinations, etc. from standard AIVDM
messages. It includes C source and documentation.

Changes: Python support is now included via a SWIG interface to the "C"
SDK code. Python 2.4 modules are included for Linux and Windows, as well
as the SWIG .i file so it can be recompiled for other platforms.

Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Address Book
Communications :: Email :: Email Clients (MUA)

About: Brutus is an Exchange connector and development framework that
offers access to all of MAPI and therefore to all versions of Microsoft
Exchange from version 5.5 onwards. It is a complete wrapping of all of
MAPI into a (large) set of CORBA interfaces. It enables any groupware
client to integrate seamlessly into any organization with large Exchange
deployments on an equal footing with MS Outlook. Being based on CORBA, it
is platform independent, and works equally well on Linux, the BSDs,
Windows, or wherever there is a CORBA implementation available.

Changes: This release fixes a bug that affected anyone with very large
Exchange folders. The display of those large folders, and of all the
messages within, is now fixed.

Education
Information Management

About: Centre is a Web-based student information system. Centre has been
designed to address the most important needs of administrators, teachers,
support staff, parents, students, and clerical personnel. It also adds
many components not typically found in student information systems. Centre
boasts an intuitive interface to manage student demographic information,
perform complex scheduling, and manage student attendance, grades, and
eligibility. Centre greatly cuts down the time it takes to report to state
agencies and distribute student information to teachers, support staff, and
parents.

Changes: This version includes major enhancements and bugfixes, and builds
a solid foundation for future changes for Centre. This version creates
improved design in Users, User profiles, "include inactive", and modular
Menu structures. Other changes to Centre include fixes and enhancements to
Gradebook, Attendance, Students, and Users.

  by Trump Coup (http://freshmeat.net/users/bourilkov/)
  Thu, Nov 16th 2006 09:22

About: The CODESH (COllaborative DEvelopment SHell) project provides an
automatic persistent logbook for sessions of personal command line work
by recording what and how is being done, for private use/reuse and for
sharing selected parts with collaborators. It is an intelligent shell
that automatically logs a user's command line (shell) session: commands,
scripts executed, output produced, changes to environment variables, alias
creation, and other information needed to recreate the session later.
Sessions are uniquely tagged and stored in local or distributed backend
repositories and can be extracted and reproduced at any time by the user
who created the session or by collaborators located anywhere in the world.

  by Michael Sweet (http://freshmeat.net/users/easysw/)
  Thu, Nov 16th 2006 09:17

Internet
Printing
Software Development :: Libraries

About: CUPS provides a portable printing layer for Unix(r)-based operating
systems. It has been developed to promote a standard printing solution for
all Unix vendors and users. CUPS provides the System V and Berkeley
command line interfaces, and uses the Internet Printing Protocol ("IPP")
as the basis for managing print jobs and queues. The Line Printer Daemon
(LPD) Server Message Block (SMB), and AppSocket (a.k.a. JetDirect)
protocols are also supported with reduced functionality. CUPS adds network
printer browsing and PostScript Printer Description ("PPD") based printing
options to support real world printing under UNIX. It includes an image
file RIP that supports printing of image files to non-PostScript printers.
A customized version of GNU Ghostscript 7.05 for CUPS called ESP
Ghostscript is available separately to support printing of PostScript
files within the CUPS driver framework. Sample drivers for Dymo, EPSON,
HP, and OKIDATA printers are included that use these filters.

Changes: This release adds several Mac OS X improvements, implements
timeouts in the SSL negotiation code, and fixes the bounding box
generated by the PostScript filter, bidirectional support in the USB
backend, and another case where the lpstat command could hang.

About: CPPSERV is a Web application server providing a Servlet-like API to
C++. It also contains CSP (C++ Server Pages) functionality, similar to
pre-compiled JSP. It consists of stand-alone application server and Web
server front-ends. Modules for Apache and lighttpd are available.

Changes: This release adds the ability to have more then one servlet or
CSP (C++ Servlet Page) in a single library. It adds the ability to map
servlets in a non-flat structure. It attempts to run IndexServlet if a
URL is a path to "directory" rather than to an actual servlet.

  Thu, Nov 16th 2006 09:20

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: Deep is a content management system that serves HTML, preformatted
text, Deep shorthand content, or the output of a Lua script using simple
templates and CSS. There are hooks to sell this content either by single
page or multi-page set through PayPal. You can use Deep to publish other
peoples' work, diverting a percentage of the payments to the publisher and
allowing the rest to go directly to the author. To promote fairness, the
server makes these percentages public. Deep is also a blog server, using
simple uploaded text files for entries and generating all indices on the
fly. It does not use a database and requires only a cgi-bin directory on a
Unix server.

Changes: Blogs are now peers of sub-sites and able to use all of the form
and survey functions as well as contain any other Deep content in the blog
directory itself. Blogs now include the site footer and site links to
increase site-wide traffic. Preparatory to selling entries by complete
category, files in blog/entries are not subject to page requests by the
browser.

  Thu, Nov 16th 2006 23:59

Multimedia :: Graphics
System :: Hardware

About: GAMMApage is a program to adjust a monitor's gamma setting, either
fully or by color. It is capable of setting gamma for most Linux
distributions upon login, including those using ATI fglrx_xgamma. It works
both for graphical logins or console logins. It only requires write access
to the user's home directory, not to any system directories. It includes
"preparation" tips with white and black point targets to make gamma
corrections effective. This is the pumped-up, Python/GTK version of
Monica.

Changes: fglrx_xgamma calls were removed for those using ATI drivers, due
to reports that latest ATI drivers did not return and set gamma properly
using the command. This was tested and verified on Ubuntu 6.10 with the
ATI drivers.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
System :: Networking

About: GNU Proxyknife (formerly known as phc or proxy hunter customed) is
a program to validate free proxies for LAN users to reach the Internet by
bypassing ISP proxies with strict limits. It can be customized to change
headers (such as User_Agent) in test requests sent to free proxies. You
can also customize it with your own checksite, checksite port, or
checksite key, switch between the CONNECT and GET method, etc., to test
and filter free proxies. It can be used to validate free socks5 proxies
with a connect command, socks4 proxies with a connect command or free HTTP
proxies with a GET or CONNECT method. It can validate free proxies with a
TCP tunnel.

Changes: Myproxy can be a SOCKS4 tunnel. This release adds an option "-C",
keyword "checkreqin" to enable customizable requests. It is possible to
implement new protocols (e.g. search MSN proxy). Checksite is supported in
other protocols (such as ftp://) for HTTP proxies with the GET method. This
release can be invoked without a startup file. Configuring and invoking is
simple. The output format has been reordered. The record of the final
request is added to the output. The manual has been rewritten. Some
advanced usages are provided. The Chinese translation has been updated.
Man is integrated into proxyknife.texi. Some memory bugs have been fixed.

[027] - libnetdude 0.9
  by Christian Kreibich (http://freshmeat.net/users/cpk/)
  Thu, Nov 16th 2006 23:50

System :: Networking

About: libnetdude is the packet manipulation backend of the Netdude trace
file editing framework. It allows you to perform trace file manipulations
at a much higher level of abstraction than code written directly for the
pcap interface. It also supports plugins (dynamically loaded libraries)
that can essentially do whatever the programmer desires. When developers
write their packet manipulation code as libnetdude plugins, this instantly
allows other developers to use their tools. It provides data types and APIs
for the most common situations when dealing with libpcap trace files: trace
files of arbitrary size, packets, network protocols, packet iterators, and
packet filters, just to name a few.

[029] - Lynx 2.8.7dev.4 (Development)
  by T.E.Dickey (http://freshmeat.net/users/tedickey/)
  Thu, Nov 16th 2006 23:58

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Browsers

About: Lynx is a fully-featured WWW client for users running
cursor-addressable, character-cell display devices (e.g., vt100 terminals,
terminal emulators running on PCs or Macs, or any other character-cell
display). It will display HTML documents containing links to files on the
local system, as well as files on remote systems running HTTP, HTTPS,
gopher, FTP, WAIS, NNTP, finger, or cso/ph/qi servers, and services
accessible via logins to telnet, tn3270, or rlogin accounts.

Changes: The build-time configuration for ncurses and pdcurses libraries
was improved. Tilde-expansion of filenames was improved; this is used to
provide user-configurable mime-type and mailcap files outside the user's
home directory (and to fix a minor security issue related to this). Other
minor configure- and install-fixes were made.

Communications
Communications :: BBS
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: Message Boards

About: Blursoft MetaForum utilizes AJAX to generate a unique forum
experience. Threads and posts auto-update in real time, with no refreshing
required. User-based moderation ensures only the most interesting topics
emerge above your viewing threshold, and private threads invite multiple
users to engage in a private conversation. Complete with advanced quoting
mechanisms, CSS based templates, and statistically normalized user
rankings, MetaForum is a fresh, fast, efficient, and completely new
perspective on forums and message boards.

Changes: This release adds the option (admin chosen) to require email
verification for new account setups. Also, the ability for admins to "ban"
a user has been added, which disables the user's account from having
access, and removes their posts and threads. This release also fixes the
behavior of deleting posts with respect to overall thread information
(number of posts, last post info, etc.). A bug in the installer that may
have prevented the software from installing correctly has been fixed.

  by Que HY (http://freshmeat.net/users/qhy/)
  Thu, Nov 16th 2006 09:24

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers

About: mod_cache is a cache (reverse-proxy) plugin for lighttpd. It works
like Squid, with a similar configuration. However, mod_cache is faster and
more effective than Squid because of the power of lighttpd.

Changes: cache.denyurls has been removed in favor of refresh-pattern's

Software Development :: Code Generators

About: Redet is a tool for developing and executing regular expressions
using any of more than 50 search programs, editors, and programming
languages, intended both for developing regular expressions for use
elsewhere and as a search tool in its own right. For each program in each
locale, a palette showing the available constructs is provided. The
properties of each program are determined by runtime tests, which
guarantees that they will be correct for the program version and locale.
Additional features include persistent history, extensive help, a variety
of character entry tools, and the ability to change locale while running.
Redet is highly configurable and fully supports Unicode.

Changes: A command-line flag that lists the supported programs and
indicates which are available was added. The Makefile now contains a
target for installation under Mac OS X. The accented letter entry widget
was improved. A number of characters were added, and upper-case
counterparts are now available by right-clicking. The number of columns in
the chart is now configurable from the init file.
