[010] - codavaj 1.2.0
  by Peter Klauser (http://freshmeat.net/users/pjk/)
  Tue, Nov 28th 2006 22:14

Software Development :: Code Generators

About: codavaj is Javadoc in reverse: a seemingly useless reverse
engineering tool to transform HTML Javadoc into Java source file skeletons
(or a reflection API) like internal representation. You can: convert an
entire local Javadoc tree into Java source code; download an entire remote
Javadoc tree via HTTP(S); and derive a Reflection-like API based on
information derived from a Javadoc tree. It is provided as a Java command
line tool.

Changes: New features include the ability to parse javadocs generated by
the 1.5 javadoc tool. The known limitations are that enums and generics
constructs are not supported yet. Several minor bugs in parsing constant
values like "NaN" and "0d/0d" were fixed. A Linux/Unix-like command line
tool was added.

[015] - Domain Auditor 0.40
  by Mike S (http://freshmeat.net/users/mseigafu/)
  Tue, Nov 28th 2006 13:32

System :: Systems Administration

About: Domain Auditor was written to simplify the task of tracking pooled
accounts within an AD domain. The driver behind the tool is compliance
with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. The tool simplifies the generation
of reports to satisfy audit requirements. It uses LDAP to obtain
information and has a Web-based installer and a Web user interface for
defining and running reports.

Changes: This release adds the ability to email reports in addition to
displaying them on screen, and has modularized code to support this. It
adds the ability to run any report on a scheduled basis. It adds the
ability to report on group membership in addition to the account reporting
capabilities. The generation of the apache config file has been modified to
work with newer versions of Apache (problems with syntax on newer servers).

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
Software Development :: Object Brokering

About: EJOE is a lightweight Java client/server component built to send
and receive objects through pluggable (de)serialization mechanisms. It
offers a high-performance, simple, and clean object request broker
(whereby ORB is meant in its natural manner and not in its relation with
CORBA), with server and client components for your client/server
applications. It's a highly scalable implementation of the common
request-process-response pattern based on Java NIO. It does support
optional remote class loading to avoid redundant classpath entries, but
doesn't require stubs and/or proxy objects.

Changes: This is the first milestone of the upcoming 0.4.0 release. Beside
many bugfixes, a lot of new features were added. Remote reflection,
different serialization strategies, support for the concurrency package of
Java 5, crispy and wsif extensions, and partial HTTP support are just the
most important improvements of this release.

System :: Networking
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: Netdisco is a Web-based network management tool. Users can locate
the switch port of an end-user system by IP or MAC address. Data is stored
using a SQL database. Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) optionally provides
automatic discovery of the network topology. The network is inventoried by
both device model and operating system (like IOS). It uses router ARP
tables and L2 switch MAC forwarding tables to locate nodes on physical
ports and track them by their IP addresses. For each node, a time stamped
history of the ports it has visited and the IP addresses it has used is
maintained. It gets all its data, including CDP topology information, with
SNMP polls and DNS queries. Security features include a wire-side Wireless
Access Point (AP) locator.

Changes: This is a major release with many enhancements, including Apache2
support, per-port VLAN control on some devices, wireless network SSID
inventory, significantly-expanded device support with support of
SNMP::Info, and many bugfixes.

  Tue, Nov 28th 2006 15:28

Software Development :: Debuggers
System :: Networking
System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: ngrep strives to provide most of GNU grep's common features,
applying them to the network layer. ngrep is a pcap-aware tool that will
allow you to specify extended regular or hexadecimal expressions to match
against data payloads of packets. It currently recognizes IPv4/6, TCP,
UDP, ICMPv4/6, IGMP and Raw across Ethernet, PPP, SLIP, FDDI, Token Ring,
and null interfaces, and understands BPF filter logic in the same fashion
as more common packet sniffing tools, such as tcpdump and snoop.

Changes: This release fixes an under-sized snaplen bug resulting in
garbage input to the pattern matcher, a bug in the IPv6/TCP packet length
calculation, and a double-free race condition during ngrep termination. It
reworks packet length calculation in the main processing loop (yielding a
performance improvement), simplifies the build system logic, and changed
"-s 0'' to match tcpdump behaviour. It adds support for IEEE802_11_RADIO
(radiotap).

  by Paolo Lucente (http://freshmeat.net/users/plucente/)
  Tue, Nov 28th 2006 14:20

Internet :: Log Analysis
System :: Networking :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration

About: pmacct is a small set of passive network monitoring tools to
measure, account, classify, aggregate, and export IPv4 and IPv6 traffic. A
pluggable and flexible architecture allows collected network data to be
stored into memory tables or SQL (MySQL, SQLite, PostgreSQL) databases and
exported through NetFlow or sFlow protocols to remote collectors. pmacct
supports fully customizable historical data breakdown, flow sampling,
filtering and tagging, recovery actions, and triggers. Libpcap, sFlow
v2/v4/v5 and NetFlow v1/v5/v7/v8/v9 are supported.

Changes: A few new config keys are being introduced: 'sql_max_writers'
sets the maximum number of concurrent writer processes the SQL plugin can
fire, allowing the daemon to degrade gracefully; and
'sql_history_since_epoch' enables the use of timestamps (stamp_inserted,
stamp_updated) in the standard seconds since the Epoch format.
'sql_aggressive_classification' behaviour has changed to be simpler and
more effective. It now delays cache-to-DB purge of unknown traffic
streams, which would still have chances to be correctly classified, for a
few 'sql_refresh_time' slots.

[055] - Recoll 1.6.1
  by medoc (http://freshmeat.net/users/medoc/)
  Tue, Nov 28th 2006 06:22

Information Management
Text Processing :: Indexing

About: Recoll is a personal full text search package based on Xapian. It
provides an easy to use, feature-rich, easy administration interface with
a Qt-based GUI. Text, HTML, PDF (with pdftotext), PostScript (with
Ghostscript's pstotext), MS Word (with Antiword), OpenOffice, and maildir
and mailbox mail folders are supported along with their compressed
versions. Powerful query facilities are provided. Multiple character sets
are supported, and internal processing and storage uses Unicode UTF-8.
Stemming performed at query time and the stemming language can be switched
after indexing. No database daemon, Web server, or exotic language is
necessary.

Changes: This release adds term explorer, a multimode
wildcard-regexp-spell/phonetic tool to fuzzy-search the index for terms.
The advanced search window is now highly configurable and has a new
proximity search type. The result list format has become ajustable by the
user, as an HTML string with %xx printf-like replacements. A real-time
indexing option supplements the standard batch indexing. Lots of minor
enhancements and fixes were made.

[061] - Simplebackup 1.8.0 rc1 (Release Candidates)
  by Miguel Angelo (http://freshmeat.net/users/miguelangelo/)
  Tue, Nov 28th 2006 05:59

System :: Archiving :: Backup

About: Simplebackup is a cross-platform backup program. It reads a
configuration file, then it builds a compressed file for each of your
backup directories or files on your backup list, and places the compressed
files into another location. For example, this location can be a network
mapped drive in Windows, an NFS mounted drive in Unix, another hard disk,
an FTP server, one or more email accounts, or a tape device (Unix only).
This will duplicate your information, doing the so called "backup".

Changes: Support was added for backup and restores in SFTP (Secure FTP)
and HTTP (WebDAV). A major restore improvement was done. A large number of
small improvements and enhancements were made. Several bugs were fixed. The
documentation was improved.

  Tue, Nov 28th 2006 14:33

Artistic Software
Multimedia :: Graphics
System :: Hardware

About: Wacom ExpressKeys supports the fairly recent additions of
ExpressKeys, Touch Strips, and a Scroll Wheel on certain Wacom tablets.
Specifically the Cintiq 21UX Interactive Pen Display, the Intuos3, and the
Graphire4 tablets are supported through the XInput and XTest extensions in
X. Using "xsetwacom", it can also provide an automatic change of stylus
pressure sensitivity (a.k.a. PressCurve) when going from one program
window to the next. This feature is independent of the connected tablet
model. A graphical configuration tool named "wacom-config" is under
development.

Changes: This version is a complete rewrite where a dependency on
linuxwacom 0.7.5-2 or later has been added for all tablet models. Among
the new features, fine-grained control of button auto-repeat stands out,
as does configurable delay times between sending of the (many) keycodes.
Touch Strips have gained repeat at the top and bottom positions. A maximum
of fifteen tablets, three of each model, and two styli per tablet can be
handled concurrently. 'Models' are: nopad, Graphire4 BlueTooth, Graphire4,
Intuos3 small, and Intuos3/Cintiq.

"experimental". It also resolves a few other minor issues. A small feature
enhancement is reporting the age of a sensor's data if the sensor supplies
that information.
