[033] - Mother ORM 0.4.7
  by efphe (http://freshmeat.net/users/efphe/)
  Wed, Feb 21st 2007 07:57

Database

About: Mother is a Python module that hides SQL syntax and gives you a set
of intelligent classes and methods that can self-adapt and understand
various situations. It could be considered as an Object Relational Mapper
with strong introspection. In fact, configuration files, tables, fields,
and keys declarations are not needed. It works with PostgreSQL and its
introspective nature is based on PostgreSQL meta queries.

Changes: SQL optimizations were made, so oid loading is now not needed
everywhere. Note that queries will be executed with fewer controls, but
faster. Other SQL optimizations preclude MotherBox from needing to SELECT
from DB to fire triggers. SQL string methods are now faster and cleaner.
Debug messages are now printed in a more friendly format. Some debugging
was done to dbda.py. SQL_DEFAULT is always applied. Memory optimizations
were made for multiple variables inside functions. Color wrappers were
added for OKI_COL, ERR_COL, INF_COL.

Software Development :: Bug Tracking
Software Development :: Debuggers
Software Development :: Quality Assurance

About: NoBug provides macros to add assertions, logging statements, and
annotations for C programs. It includes pre-/post-condition and invariant
checks, as well as generic assertions. Checks are enabled based on
build-levels and scope tags. It also includes debugger support (valgrind),
dumping of data structures, logging your application's activities, runtime
customizable logging via environment variables, different logging targets
(stderr, syslog, debugger, etc.), and annotation of your source code
regarding known bugs, things to do, and planned things.

Changes: Valgrind and execinfo.h are now optional. The Log format was
changed to be similar to gcc's output, so editors should be able to parse
the output. DUMP now uses the flags mechanism too. The BUG macro was
renamed to FIXME, and the FIXME macro may not be used in BETA builds. Some
bugfixes and cleanups were done.

  Wed, Feb 21st 2007 11:06

System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
System :: Installation/Setup
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions :: CD-Based

About: Rocks is a complete "cluster on a CD" solution for x86 and IA64 Red
Hat Linux COTS clusters. Building a Rocks cluster does not require any
experience in clustering, yet a cluster architect will find a flexible and
programmatic way to redesign the entire software stack just below the
surface (appropriately hidden from the majority of users). Although Rocks
includes the tools expected from any clustering software stack (PBS, Maui,
GM support, Ganglia, etc), it is unique in its simplicity of installation.

[041] - Nuface 1.2
  by Vincent Deffontaines (http://freshmeat.net/users/gryzor/)
  Wed, Feb 21st 2007 07:02

Security
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: Nuface is a Web-based administration tool that generates Edenwall,
NuFW, or simple Netfilter firewall rules. It features a high level
abstraction on the security policy set by the administrator, and works
internally on an XML data scheme. Its philosophy is to let you agglomerate
subjects, resources, or protocols into meta-objects, and use those meta
objects to generate ACLs, which are then interpreted as netfilter rules by
Nupyf, the internal XML parser. This tool may easily be extended to support
firewall implementations other than Netfilter.

Changes: Support for Layer7 inspection rules generation was added. Finer
ACL ordering is now implemented, and now takes into account the network
topology.

  Wed, Feb 21st 2007 05:22

Information Management
Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: OpenSyncro is an enterprise application integration (EAI) tool. It
runs on the Apache Tomcat application server and has a Web browser
interface for setting up and maintaining component based integration
processes. Features include data converters from CSV tables and other text
based data formats to XML, support for XSL transformations (XSLT 2.0),
calling Web Services, accessing files on FTP/HTTP servers, and databases
via JDBC. A connector for Smilehouse Workspace webshops is also built-in.
OpenSyncro can be extended with Connector Packs for ERP/CRM systems.

Changes: The new built-in components make it possible to access multiple
Web Services in a single Pipe and to easily capture data at any point in
the integration process. A component for exporting customer data from a
Workspace webshop has been added. The Transfer log viewer was improved and
allows faster browsing of very long log entries. OpenSyncro now supports
installation on MySQL 5.0 database. New third party Connector Packs are
available for integration with QuickBooks, online market places such as
Google Base and eBay, and enterprise applications with support for

[044] - Pascal Mock 1.1
  by harghh (http://freshmeat.net/users/harghh/)
  Wed, Feb 21st 2007 22:17

Software Development :: Quality Assurance
Software Development :: Testing

About: Delphi/Kylix/FreePascal were lacking a mock library. The Pascal
Mock library enables the easy creation and use of Mock objects for unit
testing, inspired by the various Java mock object tools. Mock objects ease
unit testing by acting as replacements for classes that the object being
tested must interact with.

Changes: Mocked functions now check if their return value was set and
raise an easy to understand exception otherwise. The mock verification
failure message is easier to read because the method which doesn't match
expectations is marked. Minimal integration with DUnit was added through
TMockObjectTestCase. Information on a called method can now be retrieved
with CalledMethodByName before calling Verify. The ability to specify
output parameters values for mock methods was added. Support for Int64
parameters was added.

  by Tommi Mäkitalo (http://freshmeat.net/users/tmaek/)
  Wed, Feb 21st 2007 13:54

Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries

About: Tntdb is a c++-class-library for database access. It implements a
database-independent layer, which loads the actual driver dynamically when
a connection is made. The classes use automatic resource management with
reference counts. Resources are freed when the classes go out of scope.
Error handling is done with exceptions (derived from std::exception).
There are STL-like iterators for result sets and rows, and also the cursor
is an STL-like iterator. It is written in standard C++ with Linux. Drivers
for PostgreSQL, sqlite3, and MySQL are available.

Changes: Prepared statements in the SQLite driver have been fixed. Date-
and time-related methods have been added to tntdb::Row. Cursors take the
option fetchsize-parameter as a hint and pass it to the driver. A leak in
tntdb::Statement was fixed.

[057] - VULCAN 5.0.3
  by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
  Wed, Feb 21st 2007 11:01

Scientific/Engineering :: Bioinformatics
Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization

About: VULCAN (Viscous Upwind aLgorithm for Complex flow ANalysis) offers
computational fluid dynamics for subsonic speed through hypersonic
turbulent reacting and non-reacting flows on a variety of serial and
parallel computational platforms. The computational cost of propulsion
flow analysis is reduced through the use of special turbulent wall
treatments, multi-grid methods for elliptic and space marching schemes,
and conditioning of the governing equations to reduce numerical stiffness.
Physical modeling capabilities are improved through the inclusion of models
for compressibility, Reynolds stress anisotropies, turbulent diffusivity,
finite rate chemistry, and turbulence/chemistry interaction effects.
VULCAN can simulate two-dimensional, three-dimensional, or axi-symmetric
multi-block problems.

Changes: This release adds 17 different additional solvers and models.
There are numerous bugfixes.
