Communications :: Conferencing
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers

About: Akeni Enterprise Instant Messaging is a messaging system that
offers strong encryption and integration with Active Directory and LDAP.
It also provides corporate messaging policy management through the use of
public groups and role based user access rights. All messages can be
logged into flat files and databases to allow for searching and auditing.
The role based access right system allows the administrator to control
whether users are allowed to send files, initiate chats and conferences,
and to "lock down" users' contact lists.

Changes: Active Directory/LDAP support was improved.

[009] - Blitz templates 0.4.10
  by Alexey Rybak (http://freshmeat.net/users/alexeyrybak/)
  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 02:31

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: Blitz templates is a fast template engine written in C and compiled
as a PHP module. It started as a php_templates replacement, but developed
into much more. It is based on extensible template controllers (custom
view classes in PHP) and weakly-active templates (simple logic in HTML).
Benchmarks show that it is one of the fastest template engines for PHP,
even though it's not trivial and makes Web application closer to the MVC2
architecture model. It was designed for big Internet projects with a lot
of complex presentation logic.

Changes: A "clean" method was added, which cleans up context iterations
and parameters in the given path. If no path is given, it will unset all
template variables and iterations. Minor parsing fixes were made. (Long
HTML comments treated as alternative tags could cause a "lexem is too
long" warning since version 0.4.4.)

[012] - cclib 0.7
  by Noel O'Boyle (http://freshmeat.net/users/baoilleach/)
  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 17:19

Scientific/Engineering :: Chemistry
Software Development :: Libraries :: Python Modules

About: cclib is a Python library for parsing and interpreting the results
of computational chemistry packages. It currently parses output files from
ADF, GAMESS (US), GAMESS-UK, Gaussian, Jaguar, and PC GAMESS. Among other
data, cclib extracts coordinates, atomic orbital information, molecular
orbital information, information on vibrational modes, and the results of
a TD-DFT calculation. cclib also provides some calculation methods for
interpreting some electronic properties of molecules using analyses such
as Mulliken population analysis, overlap population analysis, and
calculation of Mayer's bond orders.

Changes: A Jaguar parser has been added. cclib now extracts the Gaussian
basis, MP-corrected energies, and the Cartesian displacement vectors of
vibrations.

[013] - cft 0.2.0
  by David Lutterkort (http://freshmeat.net/users/lutter/)
  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 22:33

System :: Systems Administration

About: Cft (pronounced sift) watches a system administrator as she makes
changes to a system. Its basic principle is heavily influenced by GNOME's
Sabayon. Instead of the desktop though, cft is focused on traditional
system administrators and how they maintain machines, mostly with command
line tools.

Changes: Package operations are supported, so running "yum -y install
httpd" during a session will produce appropriate package statements in the
generated manifest.

[014] - CLSimilarImages 0.4.1
  by Benjamin Mann (http://freshmeat.net/users/benmann/)
  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 08:45

Multimedia :: Graphics

About: CLSimilarImages is a command-line program for finding images which
are visually similar to each other, even if they are not precisely the
same. It can usually detect similarity despite recompression, resizing,
stretching, and minor modifications. In classic Unix style, it is designed
to be useful with pipes, in scripts, and in combination with other
programs. It can search for matches in one collection of files, or compare
two collections, and can store "thumbnails" of images on your system to
make future comparisons faster.

Changes: This release fixes a bug in which the -k option for dropping
matches when there were several scorings about the same was not using the
numbers it was directed to use.

[015] - Crossroads Load Balancer 1.30
  by Karel Kubat (http://freshmeat.net/users/karelk/)
  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 08:37

System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
System :: Networking

About: Crossroads is a load balance and failover utility for TCP-based
services. It is a daemon program running in userspace and features
extensive configurability, polling of backends using "wakeup calls",
highly configurable dispatch modes of client requests to back ends,
detailed status reporting, "hooks" for special actions when backend calls
fail, support for "sticky" HTTP sessions, and more. It is
service-independent; it is usable for HTTP(S), SSH, SMTP, DNS, MySQL, etc.

Changes: When balancing HTTP in "sticky" mode, sessions will continue to
go to backends that are marked "down" (while new sessions will be
forwarded to other backends). This permits one to take backends gracefully
out of service. Furthermore, bugs were fixed.

  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 04:53

Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: User Interfaces

About: The JS XmlGUI is a library which allows a programmer to describe
both the logic and the appearance of a Java application's GUI in XML. It
can reduce the amount of GUI specific Java code to a minimum and can keep
GUI design readable even for people who are not programmers. JS XmlGUI is
designed to support the MVC pattern.

Changes: This version brings mayor changes to JS XmlGUI. First of all, JS
XmlGUI now uses JavaBeans as a source of widget data. A model can contain
JavaBeans and a view builds SWT widgets which can be connected with a
model in way that is very similar to JSP.

[028] - JSON::DWIW 0.03
  by Don Owens (http://freshmeat.net/users/codefu/)
  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 05:04

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Perl Modules

About: JSON::DWIW is a Perl module that converts Perl data structures to
and from JSON. It does what most Perl programmers would expect without
having to set any extra options. For example, it converts objects to their
underlying data structures (for hash or array) and turns IO objects into
strings. It is also faster than the JSON or JSON::Syck modules on CPAN in
the developer's tests.

Changes: A bug where parsing an array would return an error in some cases
was fixed.

  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 01:25

Software Development
Software Development :: Build Tools

About: KJam is a very fast build tool. It is a make replacement, and uses
a syntax similar to Jam, but is much more powerful than the original. It
has built-in dependency scanning, per-target viewpathing, C-like control
flow, and a built-in sh-like shell. It is optimized for multi-processor
machines. It can accelerate software builds by launching build actions on
a distributed peer to peer network of build servers. It is designed to
support large projects with thousands of targets, or projects requiring
building on many target architectures.

Changes: A new "immediate" action modifier keyword was added, which causes
actions to be run as soon as they are parsed, instead of during the command
phase. Output formatting was improved. Several bugs were fixed.

[033] - LDAP Mailing Lists Access Policy Daemon 0.2
  by Giulivo Navigante (http://freshmeat.net/users/giulivo/)
  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 12:59

Communications :: Email :: Mailing List Servers

About: MLAPD is a mailing list manager that uses LDAP (instead of BDB or
GDBM) to control list access. It's designed to work in conjunction with
Postfix as an access policy delegation daemon. It manages electronic mail
discussion and e-newsletter lists. Its goal is to store/read list data
on/from LDAP. It works as a Postfix access policy delegation agent, so it
can be installed one time and used by multiple Postfix instances, or
installed multiple times and not suffer database access concurrency issues
(because it uses LDAP).

Changes: This can be considered the first stable and usable release.

[040] - MillScript 10.2.0
  by Kevin Rogers (http://freshmeat.net/users/orican/)
  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 08:39

Software Development :: Interpreters
Text Processing :: Markup :: HTML/XHTML

About: MillScript is a full featured, yet easy to use language for the
batch production of templated Web sites. The language is a Java-based,
early implementation of Spice: an experimental language developed by the
OpenSpice group. MillScript benefits from a carefully considered and
consistent syntax that should be most beneficial to ocassional and
cross-over programmers. Its features include multiple valued expressions,
embedded XML tags, powerful for loops, a rich template system, lambda
functions, closures, classes, and methods, regular expressions, and more.

Changes: Support for simple Microsoft Excel files using a new independent
Java library MillScript-Excel. Chained relational operators that allow you
to write tests of the form x < y < z. Fat (i.e. multi-line) strings. A Java
properties file renderer. A new independent Java XML parsing library
MillScript-XML. An independent replacement for Java Collections called
MillScript-Util. This release uses Java 5. A simple plug-in architecture.
A few bugfixes.

  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 09:51

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: MillScript-Util is a richer alternative to Java's Collections
framework. This API provides several features not found in the standard
Collections framework. It clearly distinguishes between immutability,
updateability, and extensibility. It provides unified lists, sets, and
maps. It allows a developer to choose when to share or copy backing data
store. Finally, it introduces the notion of a default action, which is to
be taken when a mapping is not present.

About: MillScript-VFS is a URI-based virtual filing system for Java. It
allows protocol independent access to files and folders with complete
platform independence. The intention is to support any protocol and
archive supported in Java, with features such as memory and disk-based
caching of file content and folder listings. The API can also support
artificial filing systems, such as an XML document viewed as a filing
system.

Changes: Improved HTTP support. This release uses Java 5. The ability to

  by Kevin Rogers (http://freshmeat.net/users/orican/)
  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 22:49

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML

About: MillScript-XML is an alternative Java XML parsing library with its
own custom API. The underlying tokenizer can be configured to permit
non-well-formed XML. This library's API provides both an event model and a
more conventional token stream model. The authors believe that the token
stream is more friendly to applications, easier to use, and helps to
minimise object creation and inter-conversion of types with the parser. A
SAX2 implementation is provided for compatibility with existing
applications.

Changes: The MillScript-Util library is now used instead of Java
Collections. Java 5 is now used. Namespace support was completed. Minor
bugs were fixed.

PHP/Java Bridge, there is no longer any need for external Apache modules.
A preview that shows ID3 information was added for MP3 files. New
functionality to disable groups was added. The memory usage was reduced in
the setup and the update process was changed to include previous setup
settings automatically. The unique checks for categories and statuses were
modified to include types. The ID handling was fixed for delete operations

[070] - Tag Soup 1.0.5
  by John Cowan (http://freshmeat.net/users/johnwcowan/)
  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 12:03

Text Processing :: Markup :: HTML/XHTML

About: TagSoup is a SAX-compliant parser written in Java that, instead of
parsing well-formed or valid XML, parses HTML as it is found in the wild:
poor, nasty, and brutish, though quite often far from short. TagSoup is
designed for people who have to process this stuff using some semblance of
a rational application design. By providing a SAX interface, it allows
standard XML tools to be applied to even the worst HTML. TagSoup also
includes a command line processor that reads HTML files, and can generate
either clean HTML or well-formed XML that is a close approximation to
XHTML.

Changes: The main issue was with HTML comments, which were very badly
broken: any > character would terminate one, so commenting out elements
did not work properly. Everything should now be correct. Everyone should
update who possibly can. Additionally, &#Xnnnn (with capital X) now works,
some debugging code was removed from PYXWriter, a Unicode BOM at the
beginning of a document is skipped, and the new version of Saxon is
supported as an XSLT processor. Documentation has been added on SAX
features and properties specific to TagSoup.

[071] - TimeTrex Time and Attendance 1.6.0-beta1
  by IpSo (http://freshmeat.net/users/ipso2/)
  Wed, Mar 21st 2007 02:27

Office/Business :: Financial
Office/Business :: Scheduling

About: TimeTrex is a complete Web-based payroll and time management suite
that offers employee scheduling, time and attendance (timeclock,
timesheet/timecard), job costing, invoicing, and payroll in a single
package. Employees can use Web browsers or timeclocks to track their time
and attendance, check their own timesheet for missed punches, and respond
to flagged timesheet errors. Payroll administrators can quickly generate
paystubs and process payroll based off timesheet information or export
timesheet data to other applications.

Changes: This release contains support for multiple currencies, multiple
calendar-based accrual policies for calculating PTO/vacation, as well as
the ability to deposit premium time into accruals. Additional filter
criteria for reports were added. The installer was improved. Several other
minor features and bugfixes were added. This release contains the
groundwork for internationalization and localization (multilingual)
support.
