Scientific/Engineering
Software Development :: Embedded Systems
System :: Hardware

About: amforth is a distribution of Forth running on the AVR ATmega
microcontroller. Once put into flash, it needs only a serial connection to
the host computer. New words are compiled directly into flash, thus
extending the dictionary immediately. It is ans94 Forth oriented with some
minor exclusions and a few words from the extension word sets. It is
written in assembly language and Forth itself. The main development uses
ATmega8 and ATmega32 controllers; other ATmega controllers should work
with small adjustments.

Changes: This release summarizes a lot of internal changes to ease
customization for different targets. Some new words for double cell
operation have been added, and usage of RAM has been decreased. The Web
site has a huge documentation update for every word.

Internet :: Log Analysis

About: AWFFull is a Web server log analysis program, forked from
Webalizer. It adds a number of new features and improvements, such as
GeoIP capability, internationalisation, style changes via CSS, extended
front page history (more than 12 months), resizable graphs, and lots of
backend changes and simplification. The long term goal is to focus on Web
Analytics, not just Web Reporting.

Changes: Minor fixes were made to internationalization detection and
handling. More robust handling of Agent Mangling was provided.
Improvements were made to TrueType font detection and handling.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: Blitz templates is a fast template engine written in C and compiled
as a PHP module. It started as a php_templates replacement, but developed
into much more. It is based on extensible template controllers (custom
view classes in PHP) and weakly-active templates (simple logic in HTML).
Benchmarks show that it is one of the fastest template engines for PHP,
even though it's not trivial and makes Web application closer to the MVC2
architecture model. It was designed for big Internet projects with a lot
of complex presentation logic.

Changes: Minor fixes in output wrappers were made (the template syntax
check was corrected, ENT_NOQUOTES support added to the "escape" method,
and the default time for the "date" method is the current time).
Corresponding tests were updated.

Database :: Front-Ends
Office/Business

About: BOND (building object network databases) is database development
framework for rapidly creating applications. It creates live forms for the
Web with AJAX and desktop applications using GTK. Using XML to define
widget layouts, it drives the live forms to which SQL statements and
methods can be attached.

Changes: A new grid matrix-type widget designed for calendering and
spreadsheet type forms was written for displaying and modifying data. A
month view calendar widget was added. These two widgets allow for more
date and time based development of systems. More work was made on easier
integration between bond and MS Office and OpenOffice.org. The GNOME URI
widget implementation was fixed. Lots of bugfixes were made in other parts
of the code, especially to do with relationships between widgets.

Games/Entertainment :: Real Time Strategy

About: Goba (Game Of Bases) is a remake of the classic Flash Attack game
featuring pre-rendered graphics, sound, and networking (no computer
opponents) with meta-server support. You control four tanks and try to
destroy enemy bases while defending your own. The tanks have weapons and a
set of mines, which may be recharged back at the base. The bases have a
limited number of bomb attacks in their disposal, plus a laser beam that
can cut through the whole game field (2000 x 2000 pixels).

Database
Database :: Front-Ends

About: GsqlR2 is a GTK+ 2 interface to Oracle that aids in Oracle
application development and testing. Its features include a schema
browser, multiple SQL work areas, SQL syntax highlighting, bind variable
entry widgets in the command window, and SQL*Plus-style command scripting.
For SQL statement analysis and tuning there is a tree-style SQL statement
"explain plan" facility and the ability to load SQL statements from the
runtime cursor cache (V$SQL table), Oracle Statspack repository, the
Oracle Automatic Workload Repository in Oracle version 10g, and full AWR
reports.

Changes: This release introduces pre-populated bind variable values in the
SQL editor. When the toolbar bind button is clicked, a combo box is
anchored to bind variables that begin with '&', such as &bindvar. This
combo box is populated by a select query designated by a 'define bindvar =
select ....' line elsewhere in the editor. The combo box selection is then
bound to the query when executed. Some examples have been added to the
src_dir/sql directory.

  Tue, Apr 3rd 2007 12:24

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
System :: Networking

About: HAproxy is a high-performance and highly-robust TCP/HTTP load
balancer which provides cookie-based persistence, advanced traffic
regulation with surge protection, automatic failover, run-time regex-based
header control, Web-based reporting, advanced logging to help
trouble-shooting buggy applications and/or networks, and a few other

  Tue, Apr 3rd 2007 12:17

Software Development :: Interpreters
Software Development :: Libraries

About: Lua is a programming language originally designed for extending
applications, but also frequently used as a general-purpose, stand-alone
language. It combines simple procedural syntax (similar to Pascal) with
powerful data description constructs based on associative arrays and
extensible semantics. It is dynamically typed, interpreted from bytecodes,
and has automatic memory management, making it ideal for configuration,
scripting, and rapid prototyping. It is implemented as a small library of
C functions, written in ANSI C, and compiles unmodified in all known
platforms. The implementation goals are simplicity, efficiency,
portability, and low embedding cost. It has been used on games such as
Vendetta, FarCry, Homeworld2, Painkiller, and World of Warcraft.

Changes: All known bugs since 5.1.1 have been fixed.
