About: Dxf2PostGIS is a tool to convert DXF files to PostGIS geometry
tables. A single DXF file is converted to a PostgreSQL/PostGIS SQL script
to create and populate 5 tables, using the AutoCAD information of point,
line, polyline, text, circle, and insert.
Changes: In the main form, there is a new checkbox: 'Generate "create
view" statements'. This option is used to create useful database views for
every combination of layer and geometry type (point, line, polygon, and
text). A view will be created only where at least one record is present.
This is useful to directly manage views as layers in other GIS and WebGIS
software, e.g. Quantum GIS and UMN MapServer. PostgreSQL 8.2 generateed a

editor with round-trip, a refactoring tool, a debugger, a profiler, and
Eiffel analysis tools (Metrics, Dependencies, etc.). Eiffel generates C or
CLI for .NET or Mono. Eiffel applies O-O principles and Design by Contract
for high-quality software. Many Eiffel libraries are included: ADT,
network, GUI, database, parsing (including an Eiffel parser), XML, Web,
COM, and more.
Changes: More bugfixes in the UI, metrics, and formatters. An issue where
the debugger would not scroll to the right line in the debugged feature
when doing step by step has been fixed. Large fonts are respected (i.e.
consistency throughout the UI). The ability has been added to add new
classes/clusters/assemblies early on in the compilation phase instead of
waiting for a successful compilation. Some issues with the multiple
constraint recent implementation have been fixed. CLI namespace code
generation that would not respect the specified settings has been fixed.

[052] - Logback 0.9.5
by Ceki Gulcu (http://freshmeat.net/users/cgu/)
Mon, Apr 2nd 2007 17:13
Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
System :: Logging
About: Logback is intended as a successor to the popular log4j project,
and was designed by log4j's founder, Ceki Gulcu. The basic architecture is
sufficiently generic so as to apply under different circumstances. It is
divided into three modules. The Core module lays the groundwork for the
other two modules, whereas the Classic module can be assimilated to an
improved version of log4j. It natively implements the SLF4J API so that
you can readily switch back and forth between logback and other logging
systems, such as log4j or JDK14 Logging. The Access module integrates with
Servlet containers to provide HTTP access log functionality. You can easily
build your own modules on top of the Core module.
Changes: This release fixes the methods isInfoEnabled, isWarnEnabled, and
isErrorEnabled in the ch.qos.logback.classic.Logger class, which
previously failed to work correctly. The various
Logger.isXYZEnabled(Marker) methods now take into account the marker
information passed as parameters. As discussed in bug 54, during automatic
initialization, it makes better sense to first check for the
logback-test.xml file, and only if that fails to check for logback.xml.

also use colors while displaying the log files (through regular
expressions) for faster recognition of what is important. It can also
filter lines (again with regular expressions). It has interactive menus
for editing given regular expressions and deleting and adding windows. One
can also have windows with the output of shell scripts and other software.
When viewing the output of external software, MultiTail can mimic the
functionality of tools like 'watch'.
Changes: This release adds history to search/edit-fields, enhances the
color scheme functionality, adds a couple of new color schemes, and adds a
case-insensitive toggle to search fields.

[068] - PhysicsFS 1.1.1 (Development)
by icculus (http://freshmeat.net/users/icculus/)
Mon, Apr 2nd 2007 23:52
Games/Entertainment
Software Development :: Libraries
About: PhysicsFS is a library to provide abstract access to various
archives. The programmer defines a "write directory" on the physical
filesystem. No file writing done through the PhysicsFS API can leave that
write directory, for security. For file reading, the programmer lists
directories and archives that form a "search path". Once the search path
is defined, it becomes a single, transparent, hierarchical filesystem.
This makes for easy access to ZIP files in the same way as you access a
file directly on the disk, and it makes it easy to ship a new archive
that will override a previous archive on a per-file basis. Symbolic links
can be disabled, for added safety. Finally, PhysicsFS gives you a
platform- abstracted means to determine if CD-ROMs are available, the
user's home directory, where in the real filesystem your program is
running, etc.
Changes: The build system was changed to CMake. 7zip support was added.
The library was made Unicode-clean and reentrant. Symbolic link support
was added for Windows Vista, Linux, BeOS, OS/2, and Mac OS X support was
improved, and Mac OS classic support was dropped. Many other fixes and
improvements were made.

configuration or compile-time tweaks. Milter support for message body
replacement has been added. Minor improvements in TLS session cache
management and in the implementation of certificate fingerprint based
authentication have been made. Improvements in queue manager performance
when deferring large amounts of mail, or when delivering mail with lots of

by viric (http://freshmeat.net/users/viric/)
Mon, Apr 2nd 2007 16:13
System
About: task spooler is a Unix batch system where the tasks spooled run one
after the other. Each user in each system has his own job queue. The tasks
are run in the correct context (that of enqueue) from any shell/process,
and its output/results can be easily watched. It is very useful when you
know that your commands depend on a lot of RAM, a lot of disk use, give a
lot of output, or for whatever reason it's better not to run them at the
same time.
Changes: bash is no longer used for running the commands, avoiding
character escaping nightmares. The command output can now be gzipped. The
number of finished jobs in the queue can be limited with an environment
variable. An environment variable may define the Unix socket path. The job
ID is now output to stdout if the job is backgrounded (which is nice for
scripting). A flag was added for swapping two waiting jobs in the queue.
Command output can now be sent by email when a job finishes. A binary can
now be run (with job parameters) at job finish.

[093] - The Contiki Operating System 2.0
by Adam Dunkels (http://freshmeat.net/users/adamdunkels/)
Mon, Apr 2nd 2007 18:00
Communications
Desktop Environment
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Browsers
About: Contiki is an open source, highly portable, networked,
multi-tasking operating system for memory-constrained systems, ranging
from tiny embedded micro-controllers to old 8-bit home computers such as
the Commodore 64. It includes a multitasking kernel, a windowing system
with themeable GUI toolkit, a screen saver, a TCP/IP stack, a simple Web
server, a telnet client, and a Web browser. It is written in C and
designed to be very small; it runs comfortably in 64 kilobytes of RAM.
Changes: Contiki now does dynamic run-time loading and linking of standard
ELF files. Rime, a protocol stack designed for low-power radio
communication, has been added. Cooja, a Java-based network simulator for
Contiki is included. The build system has been reworked to allow for easy
cross-compiling for many platforms. A new port for the Tmote Sky sensor
board has been added.

[094] - TiVo File Decoder 0.2pre1
by Jeremy Drake (http://freshmeat.net/users/jeremyd2019/)
Mon, Apr 2nd 2007 10:28
Multimedia :: Video :: Conversion
About: TiVo File Decoder software converts a .TiVo file (produced by the
TiVoToGo functionality on recent TiVo software releases) to a normal MPEG
file. This has the same functionality as using TiVo's supplied DirectShow
DLL on Windows with a tool such as DirectShowDump, but is portable to
different architectures and operating systems, and runs on the command
line using files or pipes. The conversion still requires the valid MAK of
the TiVo which recorded the file, so it cannot be used to circumvent their
protection, simply to provide the same level of access as is already
available on Windows.
Changes: The build system has been switched over to autoconf/automake from
a custom makefile. Now make install will work, among other autoconf
features. The code has been reorganized to build a static library, which
can be used to decrypt TiVo file MPEG frames. This can be used to build
filters in media players that can decode TiVo files on the fly (there is a
rough version of one for mplayer in this project's CVS repository).

[101] - XINS 1.5.2 (Stable)
by Anthony Goubard (http://freshmeat.net/users/agoubard/)
Mon, Apr 2nd 2007 13:02
Communications
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Software Development :: Build Tools
About: XINS is a technology used to define, create, and invoke remote
APIs. XINS is specification-oriented. When API specifications are written
(in XML), XINS will transform them to HTML-based documentation and Java
code for both the client-side and the server-side. The communication is
based on HTTP. XINS competes with the complex SOAP technology. Main design
goals include simplicity, scalability, and testability. XINS is not only a
specification technology, but also an application development framework.
It offers transaction logging, unique log documentation, and active code
generation.
Changes: Incorrect decoding of international characters, a missing CSS
file for specdocs, and failure when no error codes are defined have been
fixed.

[102] - yagg 1.4001
by David Coppit (http://freshmeat.net/users/coppit/)
Mon, Apr 2nd 2007 09:52
Software Development
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
Software Development :: Testing
About: yagg, given YACC-like and LEX-like input files, generates a C++
program that generates all strings of a user-specified length. This
program can then be used to generate inputs for testing, or to validate
that a grammar accepts the strings that you think it does. The grammar
file provides the grammar productions for string generation, along with
optional action blocks that can perform context-sensitive checks in order
to limit the generated strings. The LEX-like terminal generator file
provides specifications that instruct the program how to generate strings
for terminals in the grammar.
Changes: This release adds a section to the tutorial on controlling output
formatting. An assert failure that would occur in peculiar circumstances
has been fixed. The test cases for the pass-by-reference updates in 1.3000
have been updated.
