[005] - C-Pluff 0.1.3
  by Johannes Lehtinen (http://freshmeat.net/users/jlehtine/)
  Fri, Apr 6th 2007 09:15

Software Development :: Libraries

About: C-Pluff is a plug-in framework for C programs. It has been strongly
inspired by the Java plug-in framework in Eclipse. C-Pluff focuses on
providing core services for plug-in interaction and plug-in management. It
aims to be platform neutral and supports dynamic changes to plug-in
configuration without stopping the whole application or framework. It does
not yet provide special facilities for distribution such as signed plug-in
packages or remote plug-in repositories, but it is possible to build such
features on top of the current framework.

Changes: This release fixes a couple of bugs mostly relevant to the
Windows platform (Windows multi-threading and libltdl support) and adds
better Windows packaging support, including a Visual C based build
environment for the example applications. It also includes some minor
changes to the general implementation and source tree organization. There
are no changes to the API.

[007] - cdrtools 2.01.01a25 (Development)

  Fri, Apr 6th 2007 07:05

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: CD Audio :: CD Ripping
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: CD Audio :: CD Writing
System :: Archiving

About: cdrtools (formerly cdrecord) creates home-burned CDs/DVDs with a
CDR/CDRW/DVD recorder. It works as a burn engine for several applications.
It supports CD/DVD recorders from many different vendors; all SCSI-3/mmc-
and ATAPI/mmc-compliant drives should also work. Supported features
include IDE/ATAPI, parallel port, and SCSI drives, audio CDs, data CDs,
and mixed CDs, full multi-session support, CDRWs (rewritable), DVD-R/-RW,
DVD+R/+RW, TAO, DAO, RAW, and human-readable error messages. cdrtools
includes remote SCSI support and can access local or remote CD/DVD
writers.

Changes: Libfind is now close to the final state. Libfind has been
restructured to allow it to be used as a builtin function inside shells
like "bsh" and "ksh93", supporting I/O redirection and shell builtin
signal handling. Libfind no longer leaks memory if called with a
commandline with syntax errors. The scg_numbus() function for FreeBSD was
corrected to make cdrtools work again. A bug that caused cdda2wav to hang
when retrieving the CDDB information was fixed.

[009] - Citadel 7.07
  by Art Cancro (http://freshmeat.net/users/ajc/)
  Fri, Apr 6th 2007 09:10

Communications :: BBS
Communications :: Chat
Communications :: Email

About: Citadel is an advanced messaging and collaboration system for
groupware and BBS applications. Users can connect to Citadel using any
telnet, WWW, or client software. Among the features supported are public
and private message bases (rooms), electronic mail, real-time chat,
paging, shared calendaring, address books, mailing lists, and more. Unlike
other collaboration servers, Citadel provides its own data stores and is
therefore extremely easy to install; you don't have to "bring your own"
email and database because they're built in. The server is multithreaded
and scalable. In addition, SMTP, IMAP, and POP3 servers are built-in for
easy connection to Internet mail. Citadel is both robust and mature; it
has been in production since 1987.

Changes: This is a maintenance release that provides more robust handling
of mailing lists.

  Fri, Apr 6th 2007 13:00

Information Management :: Document Repositories
Information Management :: Issue Tracking
Information Management :: Workflow Frameworks

About: CRM-CTT allows you to create entities (tickets) to which you can
attach files, place alerts, prioritize, etc. It is multi-lingual and
customizable. It can be used for any department in which something comes
in, must be handled, and goes out, such as bug tracking, systems
management (including assets) or helpdesk call tracking. It creates
management information and exports in PDF and Excel, and reports and
invoices in RTF format. Installation is done using a simple script, and a
clear manual is included. It's available in all major languages.

Changes: This version introduces CMS functionality. You can now publish
entity content and entity reports to the Web using standard templates. A
command line interface was added for easy multi-repository administration,
indexed searching makes searching a lot faster, and you can choose to use
pulldown menus as navigation method. Almost all open change requests were
implemented, and all open bugs were fixed.

[016] - Free-SA 1.2.1
  by Sapon Oleg (http://freshmeat.net/users/xsaper/)
  Fri, Apr 6th 2007 09:21

Internet :: Log Analysis

About: Free-SA is tool for statistical analysis of daemons' log files,
similar to SARG. Its main advantages over SARG are much better speed
(7x-20x), more support for reports, and W3C compliance of generated
HTML/CSS reports. It can be used to help control traffic usage, to control
Internet access security policies, to investigate security incidents, to
evaluate server efficiency, and to detect troubles with configuration.

Changes: Large file support has been extended by fseeko/ftello functions
(a LARGEFILE option has been added to config.mk). There are no more
warnings with gcc (the code has been corrected). Makefiles install
documentation in the proper place (PREFIX/share/doc, not PREFIX/doc).
Sources will now be available only in tar.gz format due to little
difference in size compared to tar.bz2, and a patch for the previous
version will be supplied.

  by Dick Repasky (http://freshmeat.net/users/drepasky/)
  Fri, Apr 6th 2007 05:35

About: J-Bird is a record keeping system for observations of birds. In the
parlance of birders, it is bird listing software. It is oriented toward
birding trips. Information recorded includes region, trip date, locality,
keywords, notes, species observed, and notes on individual species. It can

life lists, tally observations by category, and query sightings. Regional
checklists can be built, used to record sightings, and be included in trip
reports. Sightings can be exported to CSV tables and HTML tables.

Changes: Keyboard navigation has been improved by adding shortcuts,
mnemonics, and key strokes that can be used to cancel or commit most
dialogs. The Windows installer can install a Java Virtual Machine on
non-Vista versions of Windows. Both common and scientific names of species
can be displayed when ticking species, editing checklists, and in trip
reports. Some bugs have been fixed on all platforms.

About: MultiTail lets you view one or multiple files like the original
tail program. The difference is that it creates multiple windows on your
console (with ncurses). Merging of 2 or more log files is possible. It can

can also have windows with the output of shell scripts and other software.
When viewing the output of external software, MultiTail can mimic the
functionality of tools like 'watch'.

Changes: The last development version was merged with the last stable
version. Some of the new features are support for alternating colors in
color schemes, the ability to merge attributes for multiple matching
lines, case insensitive toggle and history for search fields, and a color
scheme for motion, Argus, portsentry, mpstat, p0f, and strace.

About: recls is a multi-platform recursive filesystem searching library.
It presents a C API with mappings to C++, COM, D, Java, Python, and Ruby.

Changes: This release fixes a benign but annoying bug in
Recls_DeriveRelativePath(), e.g. the relativity of

  by viric (http://freshmeat.net/users/viric/)

System

About: task spooler is a Unix batch system where the tasks spooled run one
after the other. Each user in each system has his own job queue. The tasks
are run in the correct context (that of enqueue) from any shell/process,
and its output/results can be easily watched. It is very useful when you
know that your commands depend on a lot of RAM, a lot of disk use, give a
lot of output, or for whatever reason it's better not to run them at the
same time.

Changes: Some bugs were fixed. An error report system was added, so many
errors are reported, and the user can send them to the developers.
Stability was increased by protecting known flaw situations like race
conditions and exceeded limits.
